George and Weezie's Christmas. On your tax dollar.
As a battle to extend unemployment benefits drags on and the budget defecit remains elusive, President Obama flew in hundreds of workers to deck the halls of the presidential mansion.
A new time-lapse video released by the White House shows the sheer scale of the operation to erect the official Christmas Tree of the First Family.
It took the small army of workers four-and-a-half days to decorate the eighteen-and-a-half feet high Douglas Fir, which will be the centerpiece of the Obama's second Christmas in the White House, ironically coined, "Simple Gifts" by the First Lady.
First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters Sasha and Malia received the tree last week, which hails from Pennsylvania.
The Obama's will also light the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, an event hosted by native Chicagoan actor and hip-hop artist Common. The event will also feature performances from B.B. King, Maroon 5, Sara Bareilles and other artists.
