MOOKIE WANTS TO MAKE A DEAL

Mookie promises to disarm the remaining 5 members of his army if the US withdraws. Something the US is going to do anyway. Memo to Mookie. You got no street cred.

The Mehdi Army of Iraqi Shiite cleric Moqtada Al Sadr would disarm if the United States withdraws troops according to plan, a spokesman said.

Iraqi negotiators have proposed a timetable of US troop withdrawal by October 2010, although Washington has not yet agreed to it, a senior Iraqi official said on Friday.

"We feel there's a serious intention by the American forces for a withdrawal timetable at the very least," Sadr's spokesman Salah Al Ubaidi said on Friday.

"It should not be considered an end to the Mehdi army, but it's a halfway step to dissolving the Mehdi Army. If the US began to implement a withdrawal timetable we shall complete the path to dissolution," Ubaidi said.

At least 144,000 US troops remain in Iraq.

COWARDLY BRITISH CUT DEAL WITH AL SADR AND LEAVE AMERICANS HANGING

Yeah...I see how it is, we lose thousands of men getting their back in WW II, and these cowardly limeys can't even knuckle up side by side with us against a ragtag bunch of Shiites. And a new American chant is born. "Remember Basra!...Remember Basra!"
A secret deal between Britain and the notorious al-Mahdi militia prevented British Forces from coming to the aid of their US and Iraqi allies for nearly a week during the battle for Basra this year, The Times has learnt.

Four thousand British troops – including elements of the SAS and an entire mechanised brigade – watched from the sidelines for six days because of an “accommodation” with the Iranian-backed group, according to American and Iraqi officers who took part in the assault.

US Marines and soldiers had to be rushed in to fill the void, fighting bitter street battles and facing mortar fire, rockets and roadside bombs with their Iraqi counterparts.

Hundreds of militiamen were killed or arrested in the fighting. About 60 Iraqis were killed or injured. One US Marine died and sevenwere wounded.

US advisers who accompanied the Iraqi forces into the fight were shocked to learn of the accommodation made last summer by British Intelligence and elements of al-Mahdi Army, the militia loyal to Moqtada al-Sadr, the radical Shia Muslim cleric.

The deal, which aimed to encourage the Shia movement back into the political process and marginalise extremist factions, has dealt a huge blow to Britain’s reputation in Iraq.

Under its terms, no British soldier could enter Basra without the permission of Des Browne, the Defence Secretary. By the time he gave his approval, most of the fighting was over and the damage to Britain’s reputation had already been done.

Senior British defence sources told The Times that Nouri al-Maliki, the Iraqi Prime Minister, who ordered the assault, and high-ranking US military officers had become disillusioned with the British as a result of their failure to act. Another confirmed that the deal, negotiated by British Intelligence, had been a costly mistake.
Pathetic weasels.

MOOKIE IS BACK: SAYS "THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET BUTT WILD UP IN HERE"

Mookie's talking smack again. This time he means it.

Commanders of the Mahdi Army are still finalising plans for an elite resistance unit that will target US troops in Iraq.

The leader of the Sadr movement, Muqtada al Sadr, announced more than two weeks ago that a specialised armed group would be set up to carry out guerrilla attacks on American troops. The rest of the movement’s Mahdi Army militia – thought to number about 100,000 – were to put down their weapons and concentrate on political and spiritual resistance to the US presence in Iraq, he said.

The militia commander said Sadr would personally oversee who was selected for membership and would chose only the most capable, most loyal of his followers.

“The goal is to fight and expel the Americans from this land and we will be thinking of that every day,” Khafagy said. “But it will be a fight that takes place at certain times and places, according to the right circumstances.”
The last gasp effort of man trying desperately to be relevant. Let us know how that works out for ya Mook.

MEHDI ARMY IS WHOOPED: NOW TURNING INTO LAME ASS SPY TYPES

Cya Mookie...

The Mehdi Army of Moqtada Sadr is evolving into a clandestine movement following Iraqi military operations targeting the group, intelligence suggests. The military wing of the Sadrist Movement, the political party loyal to Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr, is "turning itself into a secret armed organization," an Iraqi intelligence official told the Gulf News on condition of anonymity.

Iraqi intelligence reports suggest the group's numbers have dwindled from around 50,000 to as few as 150 in the past few years.

Intelligence officials said the latest operations in Maysan province would signal "the end of the Mehdi Army."

SENIOR US OFFICER WARNS OF IRAN PROVIDING ARMS TO AL SADR MILITIA

The groundwork is being laid for an ass whoopin'.

Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the military had evidence Iran was sending new weapons to Iraqi insurgents despite Tehran's commitment to the government in Baghdad that it would halt such support.

"The Iranian government pledged to halt such activity some months ago," Mullen said. "It's plainly obvious they have not. Indeed, they seem to have gone the other way."

BAD MOOKIE: AL SADR SHAMES HIS FAMILY

From the Mudville Gazzette...

Iraq’s Josef Alsadar said that Muqtada Alsadar has tainted our family reputation; we will deal with him internally.

Alseyed Josef Alsadar a member of the honored Sadar family wrote a letter to Alrafedain news which said: ‘Muqtada Alsadar has tainted the reputation of this respected family, and the family disowns Muqtada. We are as innocent of him as the wolf is of the blood of Josef (Biblical (Old Testament I believe) and Koranic reference). The family is working on ways to discipline him with in the family. Consultation for this are held at the highest level to come up with punishments for its rogue son.

These courageous and dangerous statements come, for the fist time, from a member of the Sadar family. Alseyed Josef Alsadar is considered to be a member of the family with deep faith who is rarely public. It appears he has broken his silence to show the truth before it is to late.
