Michelle Obama wears $540 sneakers. And they're not even Air Jordans.
While volunteering Wednesday at a D.C. food bank, the First Lady sported her usual J.Crew cardigan, a pair of utilitarian capri pants and, on her feet, a sneaky splurge: trainers that go for $540.I did some research. Michelle could have scored this canvas pair of Chuck Taylor's for only $45.
That’s right: These sneakers - suede, with grosgrain ribbon laces and metallic pink toe caps - are made by French design house Lanvin, one of fashion’s hottest labels. They come in denim and satin versions, and have been a brisk seller all spring…
"They’re shoes," the First Lady’s reps sniffed when curious reporters inquired about the fancy footwear.
Michelle has stepped out in Lanvin before while getting down to business. A week ago, she shoveled dirt at a tree planting while wearing the line’s chiffon tank.
Dresses and strappy pumps cost upward of $1,500, while tops go for $400 to $1,000
UPDATE: Due to the overwhelming response from idiotic supporters of Michelle Obama, I feel obligated to include this quote from the First Lady herself:
"The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."Mrs. Obama. It's time to start forking over your piece of the pie. You can start with the piece that includes the $540 sneakers.

What happened to spreading the wealth around?
Chuck Taylors are American, I think.
you guys are so ridiculous....y don't u all report on something important...they are working for their money so can't they enjoy it. because the whole USA is watching them they shouldn't spend their money? its not their fault unemployment is up....this whole thing started since bush was in office letting all them CEOs and everybody else getting away with everything. Why should the Obamas pay for what Bush cause?
Oh...you mean all the money they made under the Bush administration?...They wouldn't make that kinda money under their own tax scheme...that much is for sure.
you all need to get a life and leave the president and his family alone....you all are just doing this because he's black..and yes i played the black card cause it's true....when Bush was destroying the country nobody was on him and watching him...but as soon America elect its first black president who is trying to clean up the mess that Bush created everyone is on him...you all need to give them a chance and see what he is doing...he is actually cleaning up Bush's mess
This is the way the couple spread wealth. That's BS. It's their money, stupid! no, no o o o o o, that's our money! Spread wealth?! not mine, yours is ok.
"when Bush was destroying the country nobody was on him and watching him"
Might be the dumbest comment ever...No...it is the dumbest comment ever...LOL...Not only were they when he was president, THEY still are...silly troll

Those would be valid points if she weren't the first lady that thinks it's a good idea to carve other people's pie. Those are her words, not mine. Here's some quote from the first lady:
"Life is not good: we’re a divided country, we’re a country that is “just downright mean,” we are “guided by fear,” we’re a nation of cynics, sloths, and complacents. “We have become a nation of struggling folks who are barely making it every day."
"The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."
I bet you had no idea she said that did you? I want her pie!!! I want a piece of her pie!!! Why is Michelle hogging all the pie!!!
Look...If you're not any smarter than you appear to be, move along.
I just find it highly insulting to wear such things to help out at a local food bank..Sure it her money, but why rub it in the faces of those your trying to help..What she paid for those TACKY and very UGLY shoes, could have fed an entire family for a month, paid someone electric bill or better yet, she could have bought 20 pair of inexpensive shoes for people who need them...
The underlying problem lies with us. We have expected the government to do more and more for us, and almost all of us are guilty. We just elect those who will deliver these things to us. We need to seek out and DO the things that are RIGHT and not just the things that make us more comfortable. Each one of us can make a difference by giving to a neighbor in need, or teaching a person to read, or just plain ol' living a Biblical, Christ-like life: i.e. helping prisoners, widows, orphans, and those who NEED help around us.
