White House Opens MySpace Page

The most tech savvy administration ever. The White House is now using communication methods that are popular amongst 7th grade girls and sexual predators. We wrote earlier this week about the White House's new Flickr photo account, now consider that the White House now has account on MySpace, Twitter, and Facebook.

President Barack Obama’s tech-savvy administration has taken another leap into cyberspace with the roll-out of ‘White House 2.0.’ linking it to social networks MySpace and Facebook and hot micro-blogging service Twitter.

“Today the White House is taking steps to expand how the administration is communicating with the public,” the White House blog said Friday announcing the additions to the recently launched official Flickr photostream.

The blog post contains links to the White House’s pages on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, Vimeo, YouTube, and iTunes.

How well is this "communication tool" working? Here's some comments I found from people at the White House's My Space page:

"thanx for the add! if you dont mind my sayin so chief i think we ought to legalize marijuana, it would deflate the drug cartels, including the pharmaceutical goudges,create jobs, make fuel,clothing,rope,resins and more,
it would be a very lucrative crop."

"I know thiss is probably a publicity thing, like that your trying to reach out to the public and what not, but i think it is really sad that the economy is going down the toilet, my family is going broke, and whats the next step the governemtn takes, MAKES A MYSPACE??? what the hell, there are people who are serious need of help dealing with the money crisis and what not. Yes i am a republican, and i have nothing against the president, i just think it is really sad that people are busy with myspace at the white house when there are people who are losing houses, and losing everything they own as of right now. :("

The way yall made it sound, the second you got elected the whole damn world would be saved and wed all live happily ever after. Well? Were waiting! Do your job damn it!"

I believe it is the White House's intention to drag the discourse of America down to the level of a MySpace, internet message board debate. The reasons, I think, are obvious.
