CLIMATE ALARMISTS AT ODDS WITH ONE ANOTHER

After years of pushing biofuels as a countermeasure to man-made global warming, Many of those same global alarmists are now painting Big Biofuel in the same light as Big Oil. Yeah, it seems even wealthy leftists will forsake the global warming marxist movement if they're hungry.

The European Union will ignore critics who accuse it of helping to boost food prices by embracing a binding target for the use of biofuels, officials said Friday.

The European Commission is sticking to its proposal that biofuels account for at least 10 percent of energy used by the EU's huge transportation sector by 2020, because voluntary targets have failed miserably so far, EU spokesman Michael Mann said.

The European Commission has said higher food prices are the result of increased demand for meat and dairy products, particularly in China and India, bad weather in 2006 around the world and speculation in the price of grains and other crops.

Joachim von Braun, the head of the International Food Policy Research Institute, said Europe and the U.S. must “correct political errors” made when they gave approval to an increased production of biofuels without properly researching the effects on food supplies.
It's like a high school girls pillow fight.

GLOBAL WARMING FREAKS ARE STARVING PEOPLE TO DEATH

Yes folks. Big Science expects us to take their word with respect to the effects of man-made emissions on global warming. Yet these same big brains couldn't foretell the effect that their advocacy of biofeuls would have on the world food market. For years, they advocated biofeuls as means of replacing fossil feuls. And now, the predictable has happened. Food prices are soaring. Due in large part to the increase in biofeuls.

Developed nations should stop paying agricultural subsidies to encourage biofuel production because the payments are making staple foods more expensive, the Asian Development Bank said Monday.

Biofuels should also be re-examined by governments around the world as it is increasingly unclear how environmentally friendly they are, ADB Managing Director General Rajat Nag said in an interview with The Associated Press. The production of biofuel leads to forests being destroyed and reduced land area for growing crops for food, he said.

"We feel that the developed countries should seriously rethink the whole issue of biofuel, particularly the biofuel subsidies," Nag said. "Giving subsidies for biofuels ... basically acts as an implicit tax on staple foods."

Paying farmers to grow oilseed and other crops to produce biofuels means they grow fewer food crops, resulting in higher prices for such staples as palm oil and corn.
Well this all one big "duh". It didn't take someone in a lab coat to see this happening. People are starving. And these freaks are to blame.

EU DECIDES THEY'D RATHER EAT THAN ADDRESS GLOBAL WARMING: ABANDONS BIOFUEL TARGETS

In a rare moment of sobriety, the EU has decided that it's more important to have food to eat than to address the coming global warming apocalypse.

The European commission is backing away from its insistence on imposing a compulsory 10% quota of biofuels in all petrol and diesel by 2020, a central plank of its programme to lead the world in combating climate change.

Amid a worsening global food crisis exacerbated, say experts and critics, by the race to divert food or feed crops into biomass for the manufacture of vehicle fuel, and inundated by a flood of expert advice criticising the shift to renewable fuel, the commission appears to be getting cold feet about its biofuels target.

In March last year, European leaders sought to seize the global moral high ground by backing the commission's climate change package aimed at making Europe the world's first low-carbon economy. In January, the commission fleshed out the details of the measures, based on a carbon trading scheme which is to supply the bulk of the cuts in greenhouse gases.

But since then there has been a torrent of expert reports citing biofuels as part of the climate change problem.

Full Story

No doubt this will enrage those scientists whose life has been devoted to advancing the biofuel industry by perpetuating the global warming hoax. It would appear that even EU lawmakers aren't so brave as to try and pimp the hoax to starving citizens. You have to question the legitimacy of a scientific community that, for years, preached biofuels as a solution to "global warming" and now, characterizes it as part of the problem. Of course, there are many questions as to the legitimacy of Big Science as it relates to the global warming hoax. It just that no one of any substance seems willing to ask those questions.
