A large 200mm rocket has been discovered in Basra. Made in Iran and requiring extensive training to fire by specialized crews. Reportedly, this mofo can knock out a city. So what we have here is an escalation and indeed a look of desperation on Iran's part in Iraq. Iraq knows it and the U.S. knows it. Major operations look to be coming in Sadr city as the government has told residents to head to the hills. Heavy fighting looks to be in the near future. A big push is necessary and it appears intelligence has a good idea of the lay of the land in neighborhoods Iran/Mookie have set up. Roughly 20 of their fighters die a day. 539 confirmed killed since March 25th. Clearly the upper hand is ours. An all out assault can hopefully clean up these areas by July.

There some desparation on the US' part as well considering that Obama may win the election. There is certainly a reason to get things done now.
I think the real desperation would be inbetween Nov and January if Obama wins. Could you imagine the amount of work the military would try and get done before that freak takes office?
