IF THIS DON'T SCARE THE HELL OUT OF YOU...

Joe Biden saying if Obama is elected, an international crisis will result:

"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

SOWELL: REPUBLICANS DESERVE TO LOSE...BUT AMERICA DOESN'T DESERVE THE OBAMA

Once again, Sowell nails it:

Fact Number One: It was liberal Democrats, led by Sen. Christopher Dodd and Congressman Barney Frank, who for years — including the present year — denied that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were taking big risks that could lead to a financial crisis.

It was Sen. Dodd, Congressman Frank, and other liberal Democrats who for years refused requests from the Bush administration to set up an agency to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

It was liberal Democrats, again led by Dodd and Frank, who for years pushed for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to go even further in promoting subprime mortgage loans, which are at the heart of today’s financial crisis.

Yet, today, what are we hearing? That it was the Bush administration “right-wing ideology” of “de-regulation” that set the stage for the financial crisis. Do facts matter?

We also hear that it is the free market that is to blame. But the facts show that it was the government that pressured financial institutions in general to lend to subprime borrowers, with such things as the Community Reinvestment Act and, later, threats of legal action by then Attorney General Janet Reno if the feds did not like the statistics on who was getting loans and who wasn’t.

Is that the free market? Or do facts not matter?

Then there is the question of being against the “greed” of CEOs and for “the people.” Franklin Raines made $90 million while he was head of Fannie Mae and mismanaging that institution into crisis.

Who in Congress defended Franklin Raines? Liberal Democrats, including Maxine Waters and the Congressional Black Caucus, at least one of whom referred to the “lynching” of Raines, as if it was racist to hold him to the same standard as white CEOs.

Even after he was deposed as head of Fannie Mae, Franklin Raines was consulted this year by the Obama campaign for his advice on housing!

The Washington Post criticized the McCain campaign for calling Raines an adviser to Obama, even though that fact was reported in the Washington Post itself on July 16th. The technicality and the spin here is that Raines is not officially listed as an adviser. But someone who advises is an adviser, whether or not his name appears on a letterhead.

The tie between Barack Obama and Franklin Raines is not all one-way. Obama has been the second-largest recipient of Fannie Mae’s financial contributions, right after Sen. Christopher Dodd.

But ties between Obama and Raines? Not if you read the mainstream media.

Facts don’t matter much politically if they are not reported.

The media alone are not alone in keeping the facts from the public. Republicans, for reasons unknown, don’t seem to know what it is to counterattack. They deserve to lose.

But the country does not deserve to be put in the hands of a glib and cocky know-it-all, who has accomplished absolutely nothing beyond the advancement of his own career with rhetoric, and who has for years allied himself with a succession of people who have openly expressed their hatred of America.

CAUSE WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH...

the tough roll up their sleeves and help with a solution...and the man who took more than a $100,000 from the primary culprits stays on the campaign trail...and blames other people

McCain suspends campaign to help solve financial crisis...Obama?...Well, he's spending his time trying to come up with an excuse as to why he took so much money from the institution that ruined America...Just as well...Does anyone really think he has any ideas that would help in this situation?

UPDATE: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid refuses help.

A Democrat tells ABC News that, in a phone call late this afternoon, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that it would NOT be helpful for him to come back to Washington, D.C., to work on the Wall Street bailout bill.

McCain this afternoon suspended his campaign and said he would skip the first presidential debate in order to return to Capitol Hill to work on the log-jammed Bush administration legislation, which, as of Wednesday afternoon, was in peril.

McCain had phoned Reid to ask about the prospects of him, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and others to sit down and work together on hammering out a bipartisan proposal.

"Sorry," Reid said to him, a Democrat close to Reid says.
Reports are speaking of a joint statement to be issued by the candidates said to be forthcoming. Here's a crazy idea. How about a joint solution from the candidates? McCain has expressed his willingness. All I see from Obama is the desire to stay in front of his teleprompter.

Wait a second. I thought Obama already had plans in place? What gives?

UPDATE: Obama says he'll return to Washington if he can be "helpful". Does anyone hear anyone calling for Obama's help? Anyone? Crickets...

OBAMA HAD THE SECRET TO SAVE US FROM THE ECONOMIC CRISIS: BUT HE CHOSE TO LET US ALL SUFFER INSTEAD

This is just amazing! Either Obama is lying through his teeth, or he deliberately chose to let the American economy go in the tank so he could when an election:

On September 19, 2008, at the University of Miami's BankUnited Center, Barack Obama addressed the country's economic woes. He stated:

"Our government and the Federal Reserve have already taken unprecedented action to prevent a deepening of this crisis that could jeopardize the life savings and well-beings of millions of Americans. But it's now clear that even bolder and more decisive action is necessary.

In recent years I've outlined plans that would have helped prevent the problems that we face, and yesterday I proposed the outlines of a plan that would establish a more stable and permanent solution to strengthen our financial system."
Are you kidding me? Obama had plans that would have averted this crisis but is only now, after things have gone in the crapper, deciding to make these outlines public? This is a story you would think the mainstream media would be all over. He outlined plans? Where are they? Where were they? I mean it's not like the man didn't have a platform or a means of making these plans law. He is a Senator. It's their job to make laws that help Americans.

Obama claims to be the man who can get things done. Yet, even when he had the plans to stop this mess from happening, he couldn't get anything done. Or, are we all just playing a part in his own personal Book of Job?

Now, all the snarkiness aside, has anyone seen these plans Obama outlined? They shouldn't be hard to find. In his words, they were outlined "in recent years". This is nothing but a blatant lie. John McCain would be a fool not to make these comments a commercial. Now!

How The Democrats Created The Financial Crisis

Change? Hope? They should be in jail.

Turning Point

Take away Fannie and Freddie, or regulate them more wisely, and it's hard to imagine how these highly liquid markets would ever have emerged. This whole mess would never have happened.

It is easy to identify the historical turning point that marked the beginning of the end.

Back in 2005, Fannie and Freddie were, after years of dominating Washington, on the ropes. They were enmeshed in accounting scandals that led to turnover at the top. At one telling moment in late 2004, captured in an article by my American Enterprise Institute colleague Peter Wallison, the Securities and Exchange Comiission's chief accountant told disgraced Fannie Mae chief Franklin Raines that Fannie's position on the relevant accounting issue was not even ``on the page'' of allowable interpretations.

What happened next was extraordinary. For the first time in history, a serious Fannie and Freddie reform bill was passed by the Senate Banking Committee. The bill gave a regulator power to crack down, and would have required the companies to eliminate their investments in risky assets.

Different World

If that bill had become law, then the world today would be different. In 2005, 2006 and 2007, a blizzard of terrible mortgage paper fluttered out of the Fannie and Freddie clouds, burying many of our oldest and most venerable institutions. Without their checkbooks keeping the market liquid and buying up excess supply, the market would likely have not existed.

But the bill didn't become law, for a simple reason: Democrats opposed it on a party-line vote in the committee, signaling that this would be a partisan issue. Republicans, tied in knots by the tight Democratic opposition, couldn't even get the Senate to vote on the matter.

That such a reckless political stand could have been taken by the Democrats was obscene even then. Wallison wrote at the time: ``It is a classic case of socializing the risk while privatizing the profit. The Democrats and the few Republicans who oppose portfolio limitations could not possibly do so if their constituents understood what they were doing.''

But we now know that many of the senators who protected Fannie and Freddie, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Christopher Dodd, have received mind-boggling levels of financial support from them over the years.

GONE FISHING: DEMOCRATS ELECT TO TAKE VACATION RATHER THAN DEAL WITH ENERGY CRISIS

The Pelosi House Democrats voted for a five week vacation in August and September without taking any action to lower gas prices. Here's the roll call.

No House Republicans joined the Democrats in their vacation vote. GOP.gov issued this statement:

Rep. Adam Putnam (R-FL), Chairman of the House Republican Conference, issued the following statement shortly after the House of Representatives voted 213-212 – with no Republicans voting in the affirmative – to adjourn for five weeks in August and September without taking action to lower gas prices and break our dependence on foreign oil:

"The Democratic Congress should be held in contempt for voting to skip town without dealing with America’s energy crisis.

“Democrats are out of touch, out of excuses, out of support and out of time. Americans are hurting. Independent polls show they overwhelmingly support House Republicans’ all-of-the-above energy solutions.

“It’s time Democrats put their boarding passes back in their pockets and get to work by voting on the American Energy Act.”

HUNGRY PEOPLE ABANDON GLOBAL WARMING HOAX

We've been talking about this all week. All around the world, as food prices soar, more and more people are reconsidering the socialist climate control measures trying to be imposed by the global warming hoaxers. Shallow thinking hippie types, who were sleeping well with the thoughts of gas tanks full of ethanol, are now waking up to the reality that their eco-religion and their knee-jerk feel good policies are starving people to death. Anyone reckon Al Gore will make a movie about that?

The campaign against climate change could be set back by the global food crisis, as foreign populations turn against measures to use foodstuffs as substitutes for fossil fuels.

With prices for rice, wheat, and corn soaring, food-related unrest has broken out in places such as Haiti, Indonesia, and Afghanistan. Several countries have blocked the export of grain. There is even talk that governments could fall if they cannot bring food costs down.

One factor being blamed for the price hikes is the use of government subsidies to promote the use of corn for ethanol production. An estimated 30% of America’s corn crop now goes to fuel, not food...

Mr. Senauer said climate change advocates, such as Vice President Gore, need to distance themselves from ethanol to avoid tarnishing the effort against global warming. “Crop-based biofuels are not part of the solution. They, in fact, add to the problem. Whether Al Gore has caught up with that, somebody ought to ask him,” the professor said. “There are lots of solutions, real solutions to climate change. We need to get to those.”

Mr. Gore was not available for an interview yesterday on the food crisis, according to his spokeswoman. A spokesman for Mr. Gore’s public campaign to address climate change, the Alliance for Climate Protection, declined to comment for this article.
Hey global warming freaks! Where's your God now?
