Nancy Boy in Chief Refuses to Arm Wrestle for Vote

You know, I didn't expect him to arm wrestle the guy.  But please, refusing that offer and challenging him to basketball?  

Obama was in Ohio wrapping up Day One of a two-day bus tour of Ohio and Pennsylvania, two important swing states in the election. 

He stopped by Ziggy's Pub and Restaurant Thursday evening with Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D). 

Obama spoke to several patrons and one, Jeff Hawks, had an unusual offer for the president.
"I'll arm-wrestle you for your vote," Hawks said to Obama, according to the pool report from the event.  

"No, I'll play basketball for your vote," Obama replied.

I wish I had been there.  I would have went all Meadowlark Lemon on Obama's ass.

Midway through his speech on urban and metropolitan policy in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building this afternoon, one of his two small glass prompters came crashing down, hitting the wood floor and crashing in many pieces. It made quite a ruckus.

“Oh, goodness,” a startled President Obama said. “Sorry about that, guys.”

He then proceeded on with his remarks, “To pull our economy back from the brink, including the largest and most sweeping economic recovery plan in our nation’s history…”

For the rest of the speech the president relied on the one remaining teleprompter, to his right, and notes on his podium to finish his speech.

Shards of glass remained near the president’s feet for the duration of his speech.

Did you get the underlying text? He wasn't even concerned...didn't even shed a tear...he just went on about his business, without any empathy at all. Where's Sonia Sotomayor when you need her!

Arizona State Refuses to Award Obama Honorary Degree: Because He Hasn't Done Anything

His lack of accomplishments didn't stop Americans from electing his President. But it will keep him from getting a degree. From Politico:

Arizona State University will not award President Barack Obama an honorary degree when he speaks at commencement on May 13.

The university decided against awarding Obama the degree because it is customarily awarded for “lifetime achievement,” ASU spokeswoman Sharon Keeler told POLITICO.

“It’s normally awarded to someone who has been in their field for some time,” she said. “Considering that the president is at the beginning of his presidency, his body of work is just beginning.”

Obama will receive an honorary degree from Notre Dame when he delivers the university’s commencement speech May 17, as is customary for all the school’s commencement speakers.

As he headed back home from Washington, Gordon Brown must have rummaged through his party bag with disappointment.

Because all he got was a set of DVDs. Barack Obama, the leader of the world's richest country, gave the Prime Minister a box set of 25 classic American films - a gift about as exciting as a pair of socks.

Mr Brown is not thought to be a film buff, and his reaction to the box set is unknown. But it didn't really compare to the thoughtful presents he had brought along with him. Marking the special relationship: The Browns put a lot of thought into their gifts for the Obamas - but the gesture did not seem to be reciprocated

The Prime Minister gave Mr Obama an ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet.

The unique present delighted Mr Obama because oak from the Gannet's sister ship, HMS Resolute, was carved to make a desk that has sat in the Oval Office in the White House since 1880.

Mr Brown also handed over a framed commission for HMS Resolute and a first edition of the seven-volume biography of Churchill by Sir Martin Gilbert.

In addition, Mr Brown and his wife showered gifts on the Obama children giving Sasha and Malia an outfit each from Topshop and six children's books by British authors which are shortly to be published in America.

But these are issues that we have no time for now, on the verge of a second Great Depression. This is an agenda that must be held back for better times. It is an agenda that at this moment is radical vs. what is called for. I am proud to have voted for the Obama who I thought understood the need to get us on the right path, and create jobs and wealth before taxing it and making moves that hurt job creation -- certainly ones that will outweigh the meager number of jobs he's creating.

Obama Drops Another Bomb in His War on Capitalism

The relentless assault on the American way continues. Unions have been so productive for American businesses thus far. Just ask the auto industry.

President Barack Obama told AFL-CIO union leaders Tuesday in a videotaped address that the controversial Employee Free Choice Act will pass, signaling his full backing for legislation that makes union organizing easier.

"We will pass the Employee Free Choice Act," President Obama told more than 100 top labor officials in a closed-door meeting at the labor federation's winter gathering in Miami, according to people at the meeting.

The bill would make it easier for unions to recruit workers because it would let them join unions simply by signing cards rather than through secret-ballot elections in which companies can campaign against the union. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business organizations have been campaigning against the legislation.

Business groups say they will intensify their lobbying against the bill as it is introduced. Randel Johnson, vice president of labor policy for the Chamber of Commerce, said the group will focus its heaviest lobbying efforts on senators in about seven states, and that an endorsement of the bill by a small number of companies "would not affect the political dynamic," because employer opposition to the bill is "overwhelming."

The name of the bill says it all. "The Employee Free Choice Act". No reference to the free choice of an employer.

Obama Releases Secret Anti-Terror Memos from After 9/11 - Warrantless Arrests of Terror Suspects

No, I don't think there's any direct security threat here. I do, however, believe it's a bad move to show your enemies your thought processes. I thought Obama was for transparency in his own administration. So far, all we've seen his him revealing stuff from Bush's administration. The man has time to read these memos, but didn't take time to read the porkulus bill.

The Justice Department on Monday released a long-secret legal document from 2001 in which the Bush administration claimed the military could search and seize terror suspects in the United States without warrants.

The legal memo was written about a month after the Sept. 11 terror attacks. It says constitutional protections against unlawful search and seizure would not apply to terror suspects in the U.S., as long as the president or another high official authorized the action.

Even after the Bush administration rescinded that legal analysis, the Justice Department refused to release its contents, prompting a standoff with congressional Democrats.

The memo was one of nine released Monday by the Obama administration.

And the problem is? The point is?

Brown to Push Obama on "Global New Deal"

Like Obama needs any pushing in this direction. Things jut get scarier and scarier. Americans have crapped their pants over an 8% unemployment rate. Who would have ever thought that? And this "global new deal". Certainly, it will require global enforcement. So how much our sovereignty are we going to have to relinquish? This is nothing other than the will of power-hungry politicians seeking to govern the world. Their method of achieving submission is fear. Whether it's global warming or the much overstated economic crisis. Their goal is to scare you into giving up your individual freedoms. To put you in a state of mind that not only will you surrender those rights, but you will do so gladly.

GORDON BROWN hopes to forge a partnership with President Barack Obama in Washington this week, to call for a “global new deal” to lift the world out of recession.

As he prepares for his first White House visit since the president’s inauguration, the prime minister has hinted that he is ready to make further tax cuts to boost the UK economy.

Brown is under pressure to persuade American political leaders to sign up to bold aims for the G20 summit of industrial and leading developing nations, which is to be held in London next month.

The prime minister will borrow from the rhetoric of Franklin Roosevelt, who introduced the government-financed New Deal to tackle the US Depression of the 1930s. He will argue that his 21st century “global new deal” will also require public spending on a huge world-wide scale.

Writing in The Sunday Times today, Brown calls for “universal action to prevent the crisis spreading, to stimulate the global economy and to help reduce the severity and length of the global recession”.

Meanwhile, while Brown is calling for world economic unity, the EU rejected a plan to rescue plan Eastern Europe.

European Union leaders have ruled out a multi-billion dollar rescue plan for Eastern Europe in the face of the global economic crisis, despite warnings from Hungary that the rejection could lead to an economic "iron curtain" across the continent. The announcement followed an emergency EU summit on Sunday at which officials debated ways to tackle Europe's biggest financial crisis in generations.

Ahead of the EU summit in Brussels, Hungary's Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany urged the European Union to show solidarity by establishing a support fund of about $240 billion to help failing economies in Eastern Europe. That was far more than the roughly $30 billion that international institutions agreed on Friday to make available.

Mr. Gyurcsany, whose country is among the hardest hit by the global economic crisis, said his plan could prevent the creation of a new "iron curtain" which, he warned, would "divide Europe" between rich and poor nations.

Do the Iranians Have Secrets About Obama's Marine One Helicopter?

This wouldn't surprise me in the least. Hell, they probably got them off his Blackberry.

Pittsburgh TV station WPXI is reporting the details:

Target 11 has learned a Cranberry company that monitors peer-to-peer file-sharing networks discovered what it said is a potentially serious security breach involving President Barack Obama’s helicopter.

Tiversa employees found engineering and communications information about Marine One at an IP address in Tehran, Iran.

Bob Boback, CEO of Tiversa, said, ”We found a file containing entire blueprints and avionics package for Marine One,which is the president's helicopter."

The company was able to trace the file back to its original source.

"What appears to be a defense contractor in Bethesda, MD had a file sharing program on one of their systems that also contained highly sensitive blueprints for Marine One," Boback said.

Tiversa also found sensitive financial information about the cost of the helicopter on that same computer.

Retired Gen. Wesley Clark, an adviser to Tiversa, said, "We found where this information came from. We know exactly what computer it came from. I'm sure that person is embarrassed and may even lose their job, but we know where it came from and we know where it went."

Iran is not the only country that appears to be accessing this type of information through file-sharing programs.

“We've noticed it out of Pakistan, Yemen, Qatar, and China. They are actively searching for information that is disclosed in this fashion because it is a great source of intelligence,” Boback said.

What do you expect to happen when you entrust National Security issues to Wesley Clark and Cranberry companies? It appears the Iranians know more about the parameters of Marine One than Obama does.
