Obama's Kenyan Aunt, who was found to be residing in a Boston slum illegally, on government subsistence, and being protected by high level Democrats, now intends to fight her deportation.

President-elect Barack Obama's aunt intends to fight a deportation order and hopes to remain in the United States, her immigration lawyer said Friday.

The Associated Press found that Zeituni Onyango, 56, is staying with relatives in Cleveland after fleeing her public housing apartment in Boston. She had been living there five years.

Onyango, who is Obama's father's half-sister, was ordered to leave the country in 2004 by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya.

Obama's campaign said previously he did not know about his aunt's status but believes she should obey the law. The campaign said it was returning $260 that Onyango had contributed in small increments to Obama's presidential bid over several months.

This woman has been breaking the law for years. And taking taxpayer money to support her lazy ass on top of that. And now there is a serious discussion as to whether she can stay here? Un-damn-believable! Deport this woman and deport her now! The last thing we need in this economic climate is another scofflaw freeloader!

SYDNEY'S population will grow by nearly 1 million people by 2021 due to the Rudd Government's expansion of the immigration program - putting huge strain on the city's public transport, health, education and housing.

A leading demographer, Bob Birrell, said the immigration intake would pump up the city's population to more than 5.1 million, up from about 4.3 million now and 350,000 more than planners had expected.

Italy's new parliament met for the first time today with applause for Rome's mayor-elect, Gianni Alemanno, a day after followers celebrated his triumph with straight-arm salutes and fascist-era chants.

Alemanno, a former neo-fascist youth leader, took 54% of the vote in a run-off on Sunday and Monday, crushing his rival, Francesco Rutelli, a deputy prime minister in the last, centre-left government.

On Monday night, the area around Rome's city hall rang to chants of "Duce! Duce!", the term adopted by Italy's dictator, Benito Mussolini, equivalent to the German "Führer". Supporters of the new mayor gave the fascist Roman straight-arm salutes.

Gianni Alemanno, the new right-wing mayor of Rome, has pledged to reinforce law and order and crack down on immigrants. And he says he wants to be mayor for all citizens in Rome.

During his campaign, Alemanno promised to consider tearing down the illegal gypsy and immigrant camps set up on the outskirts of the city.

Meanwhile, a study released on Tuesday indicated that most Italians have negative views about immigrants from Muslim countries.

Alemanno's victory marks yet another political victory in Italy for an anti-immigrant candidate. Silvio Berlusconi,who just won his third term as Italy's Prime Minister has been stocking his cabinet with anti-immigrations sympathizers.
