Global Socialists Toast Victory Over America

Completely under the radar, but fast becoming a reality. The US is about to become the world's slaves:

The American people may be losing their jobs and savings, but on Friday night, on the eve of the international financial summit, they provided President Bush and other G20 leaders a lavish banquet that included $300-a-bottle wine, Vermont Brie, eggplant fondue, and rack of lamb.

In a development that attracted the attention of some media, the U.S. agreed at the conference to the establishment of “supervisory colleges” by March 31, 2009, to monitor “all major cross-border financial institutions.” It is the beginning of a new global regulatory body that could eventually impose and collect a currency transactions tax known as the Tobin Tax, named after the late Yale University economist, James Tobin. Such a tax, which could affect stocks, mutual funds, and pensions, could generate hundreds of billions of dollars a year.

But ignored by most of the media was the fact that buried in the “declaration” endorsed by Bush and other leaders meeting on Saturday was (Point number 14) support for the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, “the development assistance commitments we have made,” and a reaffirmation of “the development principles agreed at the 2002 United Nations Conference on Financing for Development in Monterrey, Mexico, which emphasized country ownership and mobilizing all sources of financing for development.”

This language may sound vague or confusing. But to those familiar with the U.N. and its conferences and the Millennium Development Goals, it all makes perfect sense. This is a commitment to devote 0.7 percent of the Gross National Product to official foreign aid, a plan envisaged in President-elect Barack Obama’s Global Poverty Act. It will cost $845 billion, to be recovered in whole or part through a global tax. The phrase “all sources of financing for development” is U.N.-speak for global taxes.

In addition to his Global Poverty Act, which could pass Congress in a lame duck session or after President Obama takes office, the Jubilee Act is also being pushed for the benefit of other nations of the world. It would cancel as much as $75 billion in debt owed by foreign countries. The total of the two measures is $920 billion.

This is nothing short of astounding. Audacity? Oh, he has audacity. This was yesterday. YESTERDAY!!! We're losing our shirt, McCain is pitching resolutions to solve OUR problems, and Obama comes up with this? THIS??? He fancies himself a "citizen of the world". Me? I'm just a citizen of America.

[While the financial bailout is estimated to cost Americans $2300 apiece, Barack Obama was in Florida, touting his Global Poverty Act, which would cost every American man, woman and child an additional $2450 each.]

At a time when Americans are faced with perhaps the most dire financial crisis facing the country in decades, it’s a tale of two vastly different priorities: Senator Barack Obama gave a speech today in Clearwater, Florida, outlining his goals if elected President: two of which where global, met by 2015, and paid for by American taxpayers to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars, while Senator McCain was in Washington working with the Congress on solving the financial crisis.

This isn’t some “nebulous” plan dreamed up by Obama, it’s an actual bill, the Global Poverty Act, (S2433), written and sponsored by the Senator from Illinois. In February, Senator Biden, Obama’s running mate, rushed the bill through his Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The bill was then recommended to be put before the Senate. On April 24 the bill was placed on Senate Legislatived Calender.

“The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends.”

As American taxpayers well know, foreign aid has been part and parcel of United States largess for decades. Dr. Mark W. Hendrickson addresses the difference between foreign aid and foreign investment in regards to the Obama bill:

“Nowhere in the world can we point to a country that has escaped poverty through foreign aid—in spite of more than $2 trillion of foreign aid spending so far. Tragically, in some African countries that have received billions of dollars in aid, standards of living have deteriorated rather than improved in recent decades. As celebrity economist Jeffrey Sachs has written, the majority of foreign aid gets siphoned off to service old debts, pay for expensive consultants, fund emergency humanitarian relief, or to Swiss bank accounts. Of the remaining “aid,” much often goes to U.S. multinational corporations (corporate welfare?) who are contracted to construct dams, airports, highways, buildings, etc. Many of those projects are no more than “white elephants”—extravagant monuments to vain leaders that do little to foster economic development.”

BUSH'S $700 BILLION PLAN VS. OBAMA'S $850 BILLION PLAN (TO SEND MONEY OVERSEAS)

The Bush Administration today proposed a $700 billion plan to bail out troubled mortgage-related securities and stabilize the American economy.

The Bush administration proposed a $700-billion taxpayer-funded plan on Saturday to buy up toxic mortgage-related securities in an urgent effort to calm financial markets and attack the nation's housing crisis. Under the program, the U.S. Treasury Department would buy, or commit to buy, "mortgage-related assets from any financial institution having its headquarters in the United States," said a copy of the Treasury Department's draft legislation obtained by Reuters.

Obama wants to introduce a global poverty tax ("Global Poverty Act" -S.2433) of $850 billion on America to reduce global poverty. This is part of his shared prosperity plan for America not only here at home but with the rest of the global community. The plan would include a tax of 0.7% of gross national product (GNP).
James Pethokoukis at US News and World Report explained:

Obama has proposed a couple of hundred billion buckaroos in new government spending along with new tax increases. But Obama may have just been getting started. Back in December, Obama sponsored the "Global Poverty Act," a bill that proposed the following (Efharisto to the American Thinker for spotting this one):

To require the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the [U.N.] Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.

What this bill would do, in short, is commit the United States to the U.N. declared goal that industrialized countries should spend 0.7 percent a year of their gross domestic product on foreign aid. Over the next decade or so, that would work out to around $850 billion.

McCain should be all over this. The debate should be fun.

OBAMA'S UN BILL WOULD DISARM AMERICANS AND FORCE THEM TO PAY MONEY TO THE REST OF THE WORLD

Obama's bill S2433 would require the U.S. to initially direct .7 percent of our GNP into the United Nations coffers for distribution as they see fit, for "food" to third world nations. Under earlier agreements this would evolve into a national tax on the U.S. with the UN attempting to levy this on all first world nations.

The U.N. would have the power to increase this rate of taxation.

The U.S. would be required to surrender some of its sovereignty over foreign aid by putting it under UN control. The bill would force the U.S. to sign onto the U.N.'s Millennium Declaration, which would commit us not only to "banning small arms and light weapons" but also to adhere to the International Criminal Court Treaty and the Kyoto Protocol.

We know for a fact that this bill will cost America $845 billion above and beyond what America already spends on global aid in the next thirteen years. America will be locked in to giving .7 percent of the U.S. gross national product.

"In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that (U.N.) declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention of Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Convention of the Rights of the Child," he said.Those U.N. protocols would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims.
