Great day Tues. Just recovered from celebrating hard.
A few points I'd like to make. Just opinions really.
I'm actually glad we only took back the House. Taking both House and Senate would have given Obama too much cover. The House is the best place to start this takeover and in the next two years they can really do some good by passing legislation that Obama will have to veto if it gets to him. Paint him into a corner. Pass tax cuts, Obamacare roll backs, immigration reforms... you name it. He'll have to veto all this stuff that never would have come his way had the dems held the house. It's going to be a thing of beauty really. These will be veto's that will kill him in 2012. We have public opinion on our side. Just keep passing loads of legislation that forces the senate dems to man up and vote yay or nay and see where that gets them in 2012 as well. Task infront of the House repubs is easy if you think about it. It just takes balls to keep at it. And balls is not what they've shown in the last decade. The Tea Party I think has changed that. They need to keep pressure on this new congress and all will be well.
I'm extremely disappointed Harry Reid and Barbara Boxer somehow pulled it off. At least it looks like Boxer did. Just on a personal dislike basis. But think of how stomach churning Chuck Schumer would have been as majority leader. Folks we dodged a bullet there.
Anyway, with all the great news and unintentional comedy provided by MSNBC's election night coverage, the best thing I've seen so far is this short and simple quote by future majority leader Boehner yesterday:
"I believe that the healthcare bill that was enacted by the current Congress will kill jobs in America, ruin the best healthcare system in the world, and bankrupt our country," Boehner, an Ohio Republican, told a news conference. "That means we have to do everything we can to try to repeal this bill and replace it with common sense reforms to bring down the cost of health care.
Do it John. Do it!!!
