Ah Summer Approaches

Warm weather brings out the Reggae in Ali. I get Reggaemylitis.

To me, it doesn't get better than Peter Tosh alone with an acoustic.

From the bonus disk of the 2005 release Talking Revolution: Get Up, Stand Up.

Nice.

Reasons Ali Blah Blah Took Up Guitar #1

When I was a young Ali growing up on the dusty streets of my home town of Tikkriti al-Shidoobi, my older brother Tupak Saday used to import records from the west smuggled in lambs bladders (we couldn’t afford “soccer balls”, your Highness!) One record inspired Lil’ Ali to build his first guitar out of a broom stick and discarded WMD shells. I played it until my fingers blistered (As well as my arms, face and legs for some reason) It was a record called Wired by Jeff Beck. This song called Goodbye Pork Pie Hat especially inspired me to keep at it. It also inspired my Uncle, Kareem Ofweet, to jump off a bridge because of the word pork on the album cover. Anyway, I thank you Jeff and now that I’m in the states I have a real guitar and I pray I get as good as you someday. Enjoy, my brothers!

Vatican: Beatles' Music is Better Than Today's Music

As a life long Stones fan and one who thinks the Beatles suck, this hurts. Wait, I'm not Catholic. So this doesn't apply to me.

Vatican media are praising the Beatles' musical legacy and sounding philosophical about John Lennon's boast that the British band was more popular than Jesus.

The newspaper as well as Vatican Radio last week noted the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' "White Album."

It said the album demonstrated how creative the Beatles were, compared with what it called the "standardized, stereotypical" songs being produced today.

OBAMA HAS MAN-CRUSH ON BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

Two words Obama. Knee pads.

The Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama showcased his diverse musical taste, ranging from Bob Dylan to Jay-Z and Bruce Springsteen, after revealing the playlist on his iPod.

Many of the musicians on Obama's iPod, such as Bruce Springsteen, are supporting his White House bid.

"I've got to say, having both Dylan and Bruce Springsteen say kind words about you is pretty remarkable," Obama said. "Those guys are icons."

Obama said he had not met Springsteen but that the two had talked over the phone.

"Not only do I love Bruce's music, I just love him as a person," Obama said. "He is a guy who has never lost track of his roots, who knows who he is, who has never put on a front."

He added that, when speaking to the singer, he addressed him by his moniker the Boss. "You've got to," Obama said.
Get a room Obama. Get a room.
