The Tar Heels: speedy, efficient, deadly.
The Spartans were playing for a state, a depressed region, and there were even a few rambling idiots who said they were playing for a nation. The players in turn crumbled under the hooves of some finely tuned Clydesdales.
In the end it was a game. Not a statement about the auto industry or a fight against poverty or some sort of pseudo-babble about how we can make basketballs, not bailouts.
And please, let's not hear from the Michigan State apologists who will claim how the Tar Heels would've beaten any team the way they played because that isn't what those apologists were saying before the game.
This was the perfect storm. This is what happens when a team saddled with helium-filled expectations meets an immovable object that is single-minded in purpose and thought.
