Frick it all. I mean Fricking Frick It All. This is the straw that breaks the camels back for me.
Mortgage finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac plan to pay more than $210 million in bonuses through next year to give workers the incentive to stay in their jobs at the government-controlled companies.Incentives to stay at their job? Do you know how many white collar intelligent Americans are out of work (over 11% where I live) and these assholes who lost over $100 billion need incentives to work?????
Throttle the fuck down Cowboy. The collapse of the Company's stock price is a direct result of the collapse of intelligent decisions within the organization. The Companies paid out nearly $51 million last year, , are scheduled to make $146 million in payments this year and $13 million in 2010. "It's hard to see any common sense in management decisions that award hundreds of millions in bonuses when their organizations lost more than $100 billion in a year, It's an insult that the bonuses were made with an infusion of cash from taxpayers."Fannie had disclosed that it plans to pay four top executives at least $1 million each in retention payments that run through February. Freddie has yet to report on which executives are in line for the awards.Since the takeover, Fannie Mae has received $15 billion in federal aid, while Freddie Mac has received nearly $45 billion. The companies' federal regulator, James Lockhart of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, defended the bonuses in a March 27 letter to Grassley, noting that the collapse of the company's stock prices "destroyed years of savings for many" workers. The companies' stocks now trade below $1, down from more than $60 in fall 2007.
The meltdown has destroyed years of savings for employees? And what about all us hard working chumps that lost 60% in the market mentdown although we had no control over the performance of companies we invested in??? How are these schmucks entitled to be made whole when they're the on of the biggest roots of the problem? ??
Where's my relief? Just once, where's my relief?
I'm self employed, have no retirement, no pension, pay health insurance out of pocket and work 16 hours a day. What can G do for me? Absolutely nothing, just take.
I can't imagine having the audacity to work in upper level management at one of these firms, knowing damn well you fucked up horribly and subsequently sent the nation in a tailspin. And then have the conscience to take over a million dollars in tax payer money as a bonus in addition to benefits and a salary that would make a private citizen move his family to Pluto to be able to receive.
Lockhart denied a request Grassley made last month to release names of employees receiving at least $100,000 in bonuses, citing "personal privacy and safety reasons."This statement in itself speaks to not passing the smell test. Pass the smell test? Hell, this crap stinks the place up twenty miles before you get to the farm.
We are so fricking screwed. When organizations that rely on taxpayers money do this and do this unchecked. We are truly screwed. This is PURE EVIL AT WORK!

Considering the horrific unemployment figures released today, how can ANY company argue for “retention” bonuses? Those people should be quaking in their boots about being fired.
These companies and their executives are testing public patience.
Nothing short of revolution will stop this.
Let’s just suppose that we don’t pay these “retention” bonuses. Do these employees who managed to lose $100 billion dollars in a single year really think that, with that kind of record of incompetence, they could find ANY other job–let alone one that pays what they are accustomed to making at F&F?
Where in the world are these overpriced primadonnas gonna go? If they want to leave and take their chances on the open market let them go.
Why are we so surprised?
We sent into the workplace a whole generation of young students who would get a ribbon or a certificate if they showed up at school.
A reward for competing in sports when last place was all that was achieved.
Damn, we even let them play soccer for crying out loud.
Good read...but one small point. You are going to keep taking it. Are you not?...We don't have to...but...we most likely will.
It is simple economics. You agree to pay bonus only when the company is profitable. No company pays bonus to their employees if there is no profit let alone when they are bankrupt.
There is April 15th Tea Party somewhere near you. Attend.
I was amongst the original tea party goers. I was tea partying when tea partying wasn't cool.
