Obama Gives Queen Ipod: I Repeat...American President Gives Queen of England a Gadget Made in China

How big of an idiot is this man? He is the laughing stock of the world. Amazingly classless. Way out of his league.

Barack Obama met the Queen at Buckingham Palace today and gave her a gift of an iPod loaded with video footage and photographs of her 2007 United States visit to Richmond, Jamestown and Williamsburg in Virginia. In return, the Queen gave the President a silver framed signed photograph of herself and the Duke of Edinburgh - apparently a standard present for visiting dignitaries.

It is believed the Queen already has an iPod, a 6GB silver Mini version she is said to have bought in 2005 at the suggestion of Prince Andrew.

There was widespread criticism in Britain and from Anglophiles in the US of Mr Obama's recent present to Mr Brown of a box set of classic American movies on DVDs that were not compatible with British DVD players.

You have to love the message this sends to the world about the state of the American economy. Ipod's are assembled in China. And to give this gift while attending a world economic summit. According to this report, Apple's iPods are made by mainly female workers who earn as little as £27 per month.

The Mail visited some of these factories and spoke with staff there. It reports that Foxconn's Longhua plant houses 200,000 workers, remarking: "This iPod City has a population bigger than Newcastle's."

The report claims Longhua's workers live in dormitories that house 100 people, and that visitors from the outside world are not permitted. Workers toil for 15-hours a day to make the iconic music player, the report claims. They earn £27 per month. The report reveals that the iPod nano is made in a five-storey factory (E3) that is secured by police officers.

Another factory in Suzhou, Shanghai, makes iPod shuffles. The workers are housed outside the plant, and earn £54 per month - but they must pay for their accommodation and food, "which takes up half their salaries", the report observes.

Why wouldn't our President take the opportunity to give a gift made in America and perhaps indirectly aid in their sales? Or at the least, show confidence in American business? He's hard to stomach with his ever evolving stupidity. Just hard to stomach.

Obama banned cameras from almost all of today's events. Here's some film, however, of Obama meeting the Queen. In European cultures it is traditional for women to curtsey in front of royalty. Note that Michelle Obama does not. And this is the President that bragged about being so worldly and therefore, most quailified to deal with foreign issues?
