Tristan Anderson from California USA, 37 years old, has been taken to Israeli hospital Tel Hashomer, near Tel Aviv. Anderson is unconscious and has been bleeding heavily from the nose and mouth. Tristan was shot by the new tear-gas canisters that can be shot up to 500m. I ran over as I saw someone had been shot, while the Israeli forces continued to fire tear-gas at us. When an ambulance came, the Israeli soldiers refused to allow the ambulance through the checkpoint just outside the village. After 5 minutes of arguing with the soldiers, the ambulance passed.

Iranian Hamas Unit Gets Torched by the IDF

Palestinian sources reported Thursday that the "Iranian Unit" of Hamas, members of the group's military wing trained by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, had been destroyed.

According to the sources, most of the unit's members were killed in fighting in the Zeytun neighborhood, where they had been deployed by the military leadership of Hamas.

The unit numbered approximately 100 men who had traveled to Iran and Hezbollah camps, mostly in the Beka'a Valley, where they were trained in infantry fighting tactics. The militants were also trained in the use of anti-tank missiles, the detonation of explosives, among other skills.

They managed to return to the Gaza Strip through tunnels in the Rafah border area, although a few also crossed during one of the few times that Egypt agreed to open the border crossing as a gesture of good will to Hamas.

The same sources also noted that Iran is preparing for an end to the fighting, at which point they want to send money to the Gaza Strip in order to assist Hamas in rebuilding destroyed homes - but also restore its military capabilities.

Mayor Bloomberg Rushed to Bomb Shelter when Rocket Hits Duiring his Solidarity Visit to Israel

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was on a solidarity visit when a bomb struck less than a mile from where he was standing.

Mayor Bloomberg braved embattled Israeli neighborhoods today during a solidarity visit - and found himself hustled into a bomb shelter as rockets landed less than a mile from where he was standing.

During his tour of a government building in Sderot, a war-torn town two miles from the Gaza Strip, the mayor was rushed into the structure's underground shelter by his security detail as the wails of sirens warned that a rocket was 15 seconds from landing.

Chairs were knocked over as his City Hall team, Israeli workers and press jammed into a few tight rooms.

A woman shouted over loud speaker in Hebrew, "Tzevah Adom," or "Code Red."

"I was in the hands of professionals. I feel exactly the way I do when I'm in New York City. You're worried about it, you turn to the professionals," said Bloomberg after the scare.

Bloomberg's shelter doubled as a military reaction room where he could see on a map where the bombs were expected to land. He was with about a dozen people, including Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and Congressman Gary Ackerman.

"All I heard was get into a room," said Kelly.

Sderot is no stranger to rocket fire. It was hit 14 times today as tension between Hamas and Israel intensified in the Gaza Strip.
Only one building was hit. It was a widow's home that Bloomberg visited hours after it was destroyed.

"Fortunately, no one was injured, " said Bloomberg, who said the real incidents were reminders of what those who live in Sderot experience regularly.

Hamas Turns on Fatah -- Starts Shooting Them in the Legs and Stuff

The Hamas government has placed dozens of Fatah members under house arrest out of fear that they might exploit the current IDF operation to regain control of the Gaza Strip.

The move came amid reports that the Fatah leadership in the West Bank has instructed its followers to be ready to assume power over the Gaza Strip when and if Israel's military operation results in the removal of Hamas rule.

Fatah officials in Ramallah told The Jerusalem Post that Hamas militiamen had been assaulting many Fatah activists since the beginning of the operation last Saturday. They said at least 75 activists were shot in the legs while others had their hands broken.

Wisam Abu Jalhoum, a Fatah activist from the Jabalya refugee camp, was shot in the legs by Hamas militiamen for allegedly expressing joy over the IDF air strikes on Hamas targets.

"Hamas is very nervous, because they feel that their end is nearing," a senior Fatah official said. "They have been waging a brutal campaign against Fatah members in the Gaza Strip."

Meanwhile, sources close to Hamas revealed over the weekend that the movement had "executed" more than 35 Palestinians who were suspected of collaborating with Israel and were being held in various Hamas security installations.

Saudi King Calls on Bush to Stop Israel

Saudi King Abdullah told US President George W. Bush by telephone on Saturday that major countries must take action to halt Israel's attacks on Gaza, the Saudi state news agency SPA reported.

The king also called for "the major countries to shoulder their responsibilities to stop this Israeli attack and save the lives of the innocent and remaining infrastructure in the Palestinian territories."

HAMAS PROMISES SUICIDE ATTACKS IN THE STREETS OF ISRAEL

Israeli warplanes pounded the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on Saturday, killing at least 227 people in one of the bloodiest days for the Palestinians in 60 years of conflict with the Jewish state.

Hamas vowed revenge including suicide bomb attacks in the "cafes and streets" of Israel. But Israeli leaders said the offensive would continue as long as necessary and suggested it may also involve land forces.

Prospects of progress in peace talks seemed as good as dead.

Black smoke billowed over Gaza City, where the dead and wounded lay on the ground after Israel bombed more than 40 security compounds, including two where Hamas was hosting graduation ceremonies for new recruits.

At the main Gaza City graduation ceremony, uniformed bodies lay in a pile and the wounded writhed in pain. Some rescue workers beat their heads and shouted "God is greatest." One badly wounded man quietly recited verses from the Koran.

"I call upon you to carry out a third intifada (uprising)," Hamas leader Meshaal said on Al-Jazeera television. The first Palestinian intifada began in 1987 and the second in 2000 after peace talks failed.

Hamas estimated that at least 100 members of its security forces had been killed, including police chief Tawfiq Jabber and the head of Hamas's security and protection unit, along with at least 15 women and some children.

Morgues across the Gaza Strip ran out of space for bodies.

But Iran had already laid out its strategy for the incoming president, jumping in the day before the US presidential election.

Foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki arrived in Damascus on Nov. 3 with a briefing for Syrian president Bashar Assad. According to our Middle East sources, Mottaki said Tehran would enter into dialogue with the new US president only from a position of political and military strength and did not propose to await Obama’s convenience until he took office in the White House on Jan. 20.

Iran’s rulers want to force the new US president to seek them out for a back-door channel of communications, in the same way as Ronald Reagan did while Jimmy Carter was still president to solve the 1980 hostage crisis in Tehran. They plan to make him come to them by raising tensions to crisis level.

Iran's head of parliament criticized US President-Elect Barack Obama for saying its development of a nuclear weapon would be, "unacceptable" and repeated the Islamic state's call for fundamental policy change.

"Obama must know that the change he talks about is a fundamental change and not changing of colors or tactics," Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Saturday in comments on state radio. "You (Obama) should know that you (the United States) cannot prevent Iran (from obtaining nuclear technology)," the official IRNA news agency quoted Larijani as saying.

REPORT: ISRAEL CAN'T DAMAGE IRAN'S NUKES

The former United States army head of operations in the Middle East, retired general John Abizaid, believes that Israel is incapable of causing serious damage to Iran's nuclear program, Newsweek reported earlier this month.

The weekly magazine quoted the former Commander of the U.S. Central Command, who oversaw operations in the Middle East, as saying he doubted whether "the Israelis have the capability to make a lasting impression on the Iranian nuclear program with their military capabilities."

According to Newsweek, Abizaid made the comments earlier this month at a Marine Corps University conference, where he also reportedly said that an Israel-Iran confrontation would be bad for the U.S. and would further destabilize the region.

IRAQ DENIES ISRAEL IS TRAINING THERE TO ATTACK IRAN

Iraq denied on Friday reports claiming the Israeli Air Force has been practicing for a possible attack against Iran in its airspace.

"As the Ministry of Defense, we haven't observed any IAF warplanes practicing in Iraqi airspace," said Major-General Mohammad al-Askari, spokesman for the Iraqi Defense Ministry.

On Friday, sources in the Iraqi Defense Ministry told a local news network that Israel Air Force (IAF) war planes are practicing in Iraqi airspace and land on US airbases in the country as a preparation for a potential strike on Iran.

The IDF denied the reports, calling them "baseless."

After nearly a month on the run, fugitive former hedge-fund executive Samuel Israel III walked into a small Massachusetts town's police department near the Connecticut border and surrendered on Wednesday, authorities said.

Mr. Israel, who disappearing last month shortly before he was supposed to begin serving a 20-year prison term, turned himself into the Southwick, Mass., police department at 9:15 a.m. EDT Wednesday, an assistant to Southwick Police Chief Mark J. Krynicki said Wednesday.

On June 9, Mr. Israel's sport-utility vehicle was found abandoned on a bridge in Westchester County with the words "suicide is painless" scrawled in the dust on the hood -- about 90 minutes before he was to report to prison in Massachusetts.

Authorities investigated at the time whether he may have jumped from the bridge in a suicide attempt, but they later ruled that out.

Mr. Israel, who hails from a prominent New Orleans family, was charged with misrepresenting the value of Bayou's funds and defrauding clients out of more than $400 million. Mr. Israel pleaded guilty in 2005 along with two other executives and was sentenced in April to 20 years in prison.
