Obama Gaffes Again: Thinks "Austrian" is a Language

The man shows remarkable academic ignorance for an ivory tower elitist. This was the man that claimed he was the best for foreign policy because he was so worldly and wise. But in this transcript released by the White House, Obama shows you just what a mental midget he is. Check out this exchange:

Palaiz de la Musique et Des Congres

Q Sonja Sagmeister from a little country, Austria, from Austrian Television. Mr. President, you said you came here to learn and to listen. So a quite personal question -- what did you learn from your personal talk with the European leaders? And did this change in a certain way your views on Europe and its politics?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: It's an interesting question. I had already formed relationships with many of them. Some of them I had met when I traveled through Europe before my election. Some of them I had met because they came to Washington after the election. This is the first time I've been in a forum with so many of them at the same time.

I'm extraordinarily impressed by the quality of leadership. I am constantly reminded that although there are cultural differences that are important and that we have to be sensitive to, what we have in common between Europe and the United States so vastly exceeds any differences that we have; that we should not forget why we are allies, and we should be careful about some of the easy stereotypes that take place on both sides of the borders.

It was also interesting to see that political interaction in Europe is not that different from the United States Senate. There's a lot of -- I don't know what the term is in Austrian -- wheeling and dealing -- and, you know, people are pursuing their interests, and everybody has their own particular issues and their own particular politics.
Austrians speak German you enormous retard. There is no such language as "Austrian". We better keep this guy out of Mexico. I'd hate for him to start running around looking for how to say things in "Mexican".

Hate to burst your bubble but Austrian IS a language. My grandma and her family spoke it. It is a distinct dialect from the german family of languages. Look it up on Wikipedia.
Obama makes enough stupid decisions and remarks on his own, why harp on the least things. It damages the credibility of those who disagree with him and makes you sound like the shrieking left during the Bush years.

Right, more Wikipedia knowledge (?).
My wife is of Jewish descent with family from Austria. Their spoken language is still German, with a dialect. Much as Bostonians, et al speak English WITH a dialect.
I can only speculate what the outrage would have been if George W. had uttered this same statement. B. Hussein is an out and out embarrassment to our country (which he hates, BTW). Oh yeah, not to mention a fraud, liar and cheat. Furthermore, WTF is doing wasting taxpayer money on this celebrity tour? Thought that was the job of his ace SOS, Mrs. PantsSuit. Please, don't get me started down that path......

It's a dialect of German language therefore its German. And I agree with the orginal post, I don't think its trivial to point out the gaffe.

I like being kept up to date on the Messiah's mistakes as we dismantle our nuclear program while every other nation increases theirs.

Thanks to those who set this blind hope and changeling straight. I guess he just needed someone to speak "American" for him to understand.
