HEY, HEY, HO, HO!...U.S. OUT OF CHICAGO!

From Doug Ross:

Pull out of Iraq?

Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago!

Body count in the last six months:

* 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago
* 221 killed in Iraq

Chicago - who runs it?

Senators: Barack Obama and Dick Durbin
Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr.
Illinois Governor: Rod Blogojevich
Illinois House leader: Mike Madigan
Illinois Attorney General: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike)
Chicago Mayor: Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)

...our leadership in Illinois: all Democrats.

Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. Of course, they're all blaming each other!

Can't blame Republicans. There aren't any!

State pension fund is $44 Billion in debt, worst in country. Cook County (Chicago) sales tax is 10.25%, the highest in the country. The Chicago school system is rated one of the worst in the country (despite the $160 million that Obama and terrorist Bill Ayers slathered around to various leftist causes during the Chicago Annenberg Challenge).

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he's gonna 'fix' Washington politics for us? Wake up America! We've already sacrificed Chicago!

U.S. AND IRAQ STEP UP OPERATIONS AGAINST IRANIAN TERRORIST GROUPS

Hurry! Get it done before Bush leaves office!

US forces detained five members of the Hezbollah Brigades in Baghdad on Saturday as part of a renewed push to blunt the return of Iranian-backed Shia terror groups reentering Iraq. The Iraqi and US military have stepped up operations against the Special Groups over the past two weeks. Iraqi and US forces killed two Special Groups fighters and captured 107 since Sept. 16.

The latest series of raids in Baghdad netted five members of the Hezbollah Brigades in New Baghdad, a former stronghold of Muqtada al Sadr's Mahdi Army. The Hezbollah Brigades is an Iranian-backed terror group that has been behind multiple roadside bombings and rocket attacks against US and Iraqi forces in Baghdad. The group films these attacks and posts them on the internet. More than 30 Hezbollah Brigades operatives have been captured over the past two months. The group is estimated at having several hundred members.

The US military says Iran and Lebanese Hezbollah have helped establish, fund, train, and arm, and have provided operational support for Shia terror groups such as the Hezbollah Brigades and the League of the Righteous. The US military refers to these groups as well as the Iranian-backed elements of the Mahdi Army as the "Special Groups." These groups train in camps inside Iran. The US Treasury Department placed sanctions on a senior Iranian general and a Mahdi Army commander for arming, training, and funding Shia terror groups in Iraq on Sept. 16.

Recently an Iraqi police chief said Special Groups fighters and leaders were beginning to return into Iraq from bases in Iran.

"The Special Groups are returning from Iran after receiving training in using new tactics," Brigadier General Sabah al Fatlawi, the chief of police in the southern province of Dhi Qhar, told AFP on Sept. 16. "We have seized 20 motorcycle bombs in Nasiriyah. Some groups have arrived in Nasiriyah ... They are crossing the border through Amarah." Amarah borders Iran and served as the Mahdi Army and Special Group's headquarters in the South.

One of the largest single roundups of Iranian-backed fighters occurred on Sept. 25-26 north of Nasiriyah. Iraqi forces detained 53 Special Groups operatives and found large weapons caches during a series of operations north of the city.

TEHRAN TIMES: PAKISTAN FORCES ORDERED TO HIT BACK AT US FORCES

This is from the Tehran Times, so take it for what it's worth. But if it's true, by all means, let's get it on.

The Pakistani Army has been given orders to retaliate against any unilateral strike by the Afghanistan-based U.S. troops inside the country.

Army Spokesman Maj Gen Athar Abbas confirmed the orders in a brief interview with Geo News on late Thursday night.

The decision was made on the first day of the two-day meeting of Pakistan's top military commanders to discuss the U.S. coalition's ground and air assault in Waziristan region which killed dozens of civilians.

Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani chaired the meeting which began in Rawalpindi on Thursday at the Army General Headquarters.

Pakistan's military commanders expressed their determination to defend the country's borders without allowing any external forces to conduct operations inside the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan, sources said.

A senior official said the military commanders also discussed the implications of the American attacks inside Pakistan and took stock of the public feeling.

“In his statement, Genral Kayani has represented the feeling of the entire nation, as random attacks inside Pakistan have angered each and every Pakistani,” he said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Kayani rebuffed the American policy of including Pakistani territory in their operations against the al-Qaeda and Taliban linked militants hiding in the areas near Afghan border.

Also, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani noted that Kayani's remarks on country's defense were true reflection of the government policy.

The army decision followed bloody incursions by the U.S. ground troops into tribal belt as well as a string of missile strikes by CIA-operated drone aircraft.

The reaction also comes after U.S. President George W. Bush approved U.S. military raids on militants inside Pakistan without Islamabad's agreement.

The development also brought into the open the increasing mistrust between the Americans and the Pakistanis over how to handle the Taliban and al-Qaeda linked militants in Pakistan's tribal areas.

US MOCKS IDEA OF RUSSIAN NAVY IN CARRIBEAN

This is just beautiful:

The United States is mocking Russia's plans to send a naval squadron and long-range patrol planes to the Caribbean for joint military exercises with Venezuela.

Russia's foreign ministry confirmed Monday that it intends to conduct the exercises.

In response, U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack poked fun at Russia's navy. He said that if Russia really intends to send ships to the Caribbean, "then they found a few ships that can make it that far."

U.S. GENERAL WARNS RUSSIA ABOUT NUCLEAR BOMBERS IN CUBA

If you haven't noticed, the Cold War is back. Nothing hope and change can't fix.

Russia would cross "a red line for the United States of America" if it were to base nuclear capable bombers in Cuba, a top US air force officer warned on Tuesday.
"If they did I think we should stand strong and indicate that is something that crosses a threshold, crosses a red line for the United States of America," said General Norton Schwartz, nominated to be the air force's chief of staff.

He was referring to a Russian news report that said the military is thinking of flying long-range bombers to Cuba on a regular basis.

It was unclear from the report whether that would involve permanent basing of nuclear bombers in Cuba, or just use of the island as a refueling stop.

In his confirmation hearing to become the air force's chief of staff, Schwartz was asked what he would recommend if Russia were to base nuclear capable bombers in Cuba.

"I would certainly offer the best military advice that we engage the Russians not to pursue that approach," he said.

The newspaper Iszvestia on Monday cited an unnamed senior Russian air force official in Moscow as saying that Russia may start regular flights by long-range bombers to Cuba in response to US plans to install a missile defense system in eastern Europe.

PAKISTANI ARMY CHIEF CLAIMS U.S. BACKING MILITANT GROUP TO DESTABILIZE IRAN

Old school...

Pakistan's former Army Chief, Retired General Mirza Aslam Baig, says the US is supporting the outlawed Jundullah group to destabilize Iran.

He said that the US is providing training facilities to Jundullah fighters--located in eastern areas of Iran--to create unrest in the area and affect the cordial ties between Iran and its neighbor Pakistan.

Baig added that Iran and Pakistan are under the siege of western conspiracies.

The intelligence agencies of the coalitional forces are very active in Afghanistan and work against the interests of Iran, Pakistan, China and Russia in the region, he said as quoted by Pakistan Daily newspaper.

The former Pakistani official hailed Islamabad's decision to hand over the captured Jundullah members to Iran, saying those working against the interests of Iran and Pakistan should be dealt with iron fist.

Jundullah is a terrorist group, headed by Abdolmalek Rigi, which operates in Iran's Sistan-Baluchistan and Pakistan's Baluchistan.

Last month Pakistan handed over Abdolhamid Rigi, brother of Abdolmalek, to Iran.

U.S. FREEZES SOLAR ENERGY PROJECTS

Gas prices are at more than $4 a gallon and this is what our government does?

Faced with a surge in the number of proposed solar power plants, the federal government has placed a moratorium on new solar projects on public land until it studies their environmental impact, which is expected to take about two years.

The Bureau of Land Management says an extensive environmental study is needed to determine how large solar plants might affect millions of acres it oversees in six Western states — Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.

Much of the 119 million surface acres of federally administered land in the West is ideal for solar energy, particularly in Arizona, Nevada and Southern California, where sunlight drenches vast, flat desert tracts.

Galvanized by the national demand for clean energy development, solar companies have filed more than 130 proposals with the Bureau of Land Management since 2005. They center on the companies’ desires to lease public land to build solar plants and then sell the energy to utilities.

According to the bureau, the applications, which cover more than one million acres, are for projects that have the potential to power more than 20 million homes.
Environmental study? I'll go ahead and tell you what the environmental effects of stopping this program will be. Millions of Americans jobless, powerless, and hungry.

BLAME BUSH: NORTH KOREA DESTROYS NUCLEAR PLANT

Great! And he didn't even have to sit down and eat snack crackers with the guy. Sup now Obama?

North Korea destroyed part of its Yongbyon nuclear plant where it processed weapons-grade plutonium in a symbolic gesture today, after the U.S. said it will begin removing the communist nation from its terrorism blacklist.

The move comes a day after Kim Jong Il's regime submitted an inventory of nuclear plants and materials, as required under its disarmament accord with the U.S., South Korea, China, Russia and Japan.

The explosion completely demolished Yongbyon's 20-meter (66- foot) concrete cooling tower at around 5 p.m. Korea time, footage on South Korea's MBC Television showed. MBC and CNN were among five media organizations from countries involved in disarmament talks invited to witness and report on today's event at Yongbyon.

US GRAIN RESERVES ALMOST DEPLETED

Ruh Roh...

Larry Matlack, President of the American Agriculture Movement (AAM), has raised concerns over the issue of U.S. grain reserves after it was announced that the sale of 18.37 million bushels of wheat from USDA’s Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC).

“According to the May 1, 2008 CCC inventory report there are only 24.1 million bushels of wheat in inventory, so after this sale there will be only 2.7 million bushels of wheat left the entire CCC inventory,”

“This lack of emergency preparedness is the fault of the 1996 farm bill which eliminated the government’s grain reserves as well as the Farmer Owned Reserve (FOR),” explained Matlack. “We had hoped to reinstate the FOR and a Strategic Energy Grain Reserve in the new farm bill, but the politics of food defeated our efforts. As farmers it is our calling and purpose in life to feed our families, our communities, our nation and a good part of the world, but we need better planning and coordination if we are to meet that purpose. AAM pledges to continue our work for better farm policy which includes an FOR and a Strategic Energy Grain Reserve.”
I don't know, but it sounds like I should be concerned. Or that someone is trying to scare the hell out of people to get what they want.

WHAT SECRETS DOES OBAMA'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE HOLD?

This from Jim Geraghty at NRO about what may be disclosed if Obama ever surrenders his birth certificate:

Reporters have asked for it and been denied, and the state of Hawaii does not make such records public. The campaign cited the birth certificate in their “Fact Check” on William Ayers, so presumably, someone in the campaign has access to it.

There are several (unlikely) rumors circulating regarding Obama’s birth certificate.

Rumor one: Obama was born in Kenya. Rather unlikely, as it would require everyone in his family to lie about this in every interview and discussion with those outside the family since young Obama appeared on the scene. However, if it were true, it would probably raise a major question of “does he qualify as a natural-born citizen”? If Obama were born outside the United States, one could argue that he would not meet the legal definition of natural-born citizen under because U.S. law at the time of his birth required his natural-born parent (his mother) to have resided in the United States for “ten years, at least give of which had to be after the age of 16.”

Ann Dunham was 18 when Obama was born – so she wouldn’t have met the requirement of five years after the age of 16.

(Interestingly, apparently there isn’t much paperwork on Obama’s parents’ marriage. Obama: From Promise to Power, page. 27: “Obama later confessed that he never searched for the government documents on the marriage, although Madelyn (Obama’s maternal grandmother) insisted they were legally married.” Also note that Obama’s father apparently was not legally divorced from his first wife back in Kenya at the time, a point of contention that ultimately led to their separation.)

Rumor Two: Obama’s middle name is not “Hussein” but “Muhammad.”

As Politifact notes, all available public records going back to 1991 refer to the candidate as “Barack H. Obama.”

It is theoretically possible, if not plausible, that Obama changed his name at some earlier point in his life, as he was sorting out his issues of culture and identity. But this would mean that Obama recognized how emotionally-charged the name “Muhammad” would become in American life long before the 9/11 attacks. And if you’re going to change your middle name from that of the central figure in Islam because you fear controversy, picking the last name of the highest-profile anti-American dictator in the Middle East (Saddam) doesn’t seem like a huge improvement.

Rumor Three: His mother did not want to name him after his father, and his birth certificate says “Barry.” Perhaps the most plausible of the rumors, as Obama was known by that name through much of his childhood and young adulthood. If true, this would spur a new round of “When Barry Became Barack” stories – a minor headache for the campaign, but hardly a major scandal.
Of course, even if the birth certificate turns up now, I have no confidence whatsoever it will not have been altered. Something is foul here. And has been for sometime with Obama and his backers.

US CAPTURES HIZBULLAH COMMANDER IN IRAQ

Huge news!

The U.S. military in Iraq has captured the deputy military chief of the Iranian-sponsored Hizbullah, coalition officials said. Iraqi sources said the U.S. Army has arrested the No. 2 figure in Hizbullah's military wing. The sources said the unidentified Hizbullah commander was responsible for training the Iranian-backed Mahdi Army in the Baghdad area.

"The arrest is a major achievement and could provide an intelligence bonanza," an Iraqi source said. The U.S.-led coalition has reported the capture of a senior Iranian operative south of Baghdad. In a coalition statement, the operative was described as a "primary weapons smuggler and financier for Iranian-backed enemy fighters."
Iranian operatives in Iraq? Say it ain't so.

RUSSIA SENDS MORE TROOPS TO GEORGIA

It looks like war is near...

The United States on Sunday expressed dismay over the deployment of additional Russian troops to Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia, adding that it has addressed its concern to Moscow.

Georgia accused Moscow of trying to annex the impoverished Black Sea region after Russia sent unarmed troops on Saturday to rebuild a railway in Abkhazia. Russia called the deployment "humanitarian aid."

"The United States is dismayed by Russia's Defense Ministry announcement on May 31 that it intends to send more military forces, including railroad construction troops, into the Georgian region of Abkhazia without the consent of the Georgian government," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said in a statement.

Georgia said on Friday it had stopped flights by pilotless drones over Abkhazia to quell Western fears that tensions between Tbilisi and Moscow could degenerate into war.
I think the Russians have forgotten the ass-kicking they received in Afghanistan.

IRAN WILL SUE U.S. AND BRITAIN OVER MOSQUE BLAST

Sure...Why not?...OJ won.

Iran's judiciary said on Monday it would file international lawsuits against the United States and Britain, accusing them of providing financial support to those behind a blast in a mosque that killed 14 people.

Iran's intelligence minister last week said Iran had arrested five or six members of a terrorist group with links to Britain and the United States who he said were involved in the explosion that also wounded 200 in the southern city of Shiraz.

Iranian officials had previously said the April 12 blast, during an evening prayer sermon by a prominent local cleric, was caused by explosives left over from an exhibition commemorating the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war.

IRAN NOW BLAMES MOSQUE BLAST ON WEST: MAKES ARRESTS

It would appear that Iran is trying to prepare their citizens for war.

Iran has arrested members of a terrorist group with links to Britain and the United States who were behind a blast at a mosque last month that killed 14 and wounded 200 in the southern city of Shiraz, a news agency said.

Iranian officials had previously said the April 12 blast, in the Shohada mosque during an evening prayer sermon by a prominent local cleric, was caused by explosives left over from an exhibition commemorating the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war.

"The blast ... was caused by a bombing by a terrorist group with links to Western countries, especially Britain and America," ISNA news agency quoted Intelligence Minister Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei as saying late on Wednesday.

Five or six people were arrested, including the main culprit who was trying to flee the country, Mohseni-Ejei said. The group was found with weapons and "intended to carry out similar acts in other places," he said.

The minister's remarks echo allegations U.S. officials have made about Iranian support for militias in Iraq that have fought U.S. and U.S.-backed government forces there, accusations Tehran denies.
Here is video from the mosque blast. I don't see no stinking terrorists.

FBI CONFIRMS STATESIDE TERROR CELLS

Start cracking heads already...

FBI Director Robert Mueller said last week that the FBI has uncovered small groups of Al Qaida terrorists in the United States, although he declined to provide details.

“As to your first question as to whether we have found affiliates or, as you would call them, cells of Al Qaida in the United States, yes, we have. Again, I cannot get into it in public session, but I would say yes, we have.”

Mueller defended the FBI’s Muslim outreach program that critics say have put the bureau in a role of providing legitimacy to Muslim groups that support overseas extremists.

The FBI has been stepping up intelligence-gathering activities in the United States aimed at providing intelligence that would stop a terrorist attack in advance, but U.S. officials said the intelligence program is still in its early stages.
"Early stages"? WTF? I would hope this isn't true. And I would hope this guy is not dumb enough to say it if it were.
