Obama Screwed Up the Brown Visit Because He's Tired and Not Capable of Multitasking

Wow! Boy wonder is tired. And incapable of multitasking. Perhaps if he didn't spend all his time playing basketball and partying, he could get down to doing his job. As an American, I don't think that's too much to ask of him.

Barack Obama's offhand approach to Gordon Brown's Washington visit last week came about because the president was facing exhaustion over America's economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs, the Sunday Telegraph has been told.

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

The American source said: "Obama is overwhelmed. There is a zero sum tension between his ability to attend to the economic issues and his ability to be a proactive sculptor of the national security agenda.

The real views of many in Obama administration were laid bare by a State Department official involved in planning the Brown visit, who reacted with fury when questioned by The Sunday Telegraph about why the event was so low-key.

The official dismissed any notion of the special relationship, saying: "There's nothing special about Britain. You're just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn't expect special treatment." The apparent lack of attention to detail by the Obama administration is indicative of what many believe to be Mr Obama's determination to do too much too quickly.

The Brits have to be loving Obama. He has crapped on them at every turn. Overwhelmed is an understatement. Obama has no clue how the real world works. His whole life has been spent buried in leftist literature while guilt-ridden white liberals tell him how great he is. He is going to be in for a rude awakening (if he ever awakes) when the reality of foreign situations become known to him. The world wants a strong American leader. The world needs a strong American leader. Obama is not that.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Sunday he is confident that Saudi Arabia will contribute to the International Monetary Fund's bailout reserves after he promised business leaders in the Gulf that they would have a say in any future new world economic order.

Brown is using a four-day tour of the Gulf to call on oil-rich Middle Eastern countries to be among the biggest donors to the IMF's coffers to rescue failing nations, which at $250 billion have already been depleted by emergency cash calls from Iceland, Hungary and the Ukraine totaling some $30 billion.

Brown has attempted to win favor with Arab states by stressing they have not been represented enough on international bodies and promising them a seat at the table amid discussions by world leaders "grasping toward new world order."

"I believe that your country has a crucial role to play and your voice must be heard," Brown told business leaders in Saudi Arabia.

IRAN CALLS FOR ATTACK ON BRITAIN

Rest easy Britain. When Obama is elected, these types of things won't happen. Seriously, he has a message for the world. World peace is just one eloquent speech from a clean and articulate black man away.

Fearing a US strike on Iran during President George W. Bush's last months in office, a senior Iranian official has suggested the Islamic regime should target London to deter such an attack.

In an article on the Iranian Web site Aftab last week - translated by the Washington-based Middle East Media Research Institute - the head of the Europe and US Department in the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Wahid Karimi, said that an attack on London would deter the US from attacking Teheran.

"The most appropriate means of deterrence that Iran has, in addition to a retaliatory operation in the [Gulf] region, is to take action against London," Karimi said.

In the article, the Iranian official said that an attack might also stem from the fact that presidents in their second terms are "usually adventuresome."

REPORTS: BIG TERROR PLOT BREWING

Frankly, with the economy going the way it is, I'm surprised there has not already been a huge terrorist act. Think about it, If you were a terrorist, can you think of a better time to act then now? From the U.K.:

"Another great plot" is being investigated by the authorities, counter-terrorism minister Lord West warned today.

"There is another great (terrorist) plot building up again and we are monitoring this," he told peers during a debate on new security laws.

Lord West, the former head of the Royal Navy, revealed the existence of the plot as the House of Lords continued debating the Counter Terrorism Bill.

He gave no more details of the threat.

His warning came less than 24 hours after peers forced the Government to abandon plans to extend maximum pre-charge detention for terror suspects to 42 days.

UK MILITARY COMMANDER SAYS WAR AGAINST THE TALIBAN CANNOT BE WON

Britain's most senior military commander in Afghanistan has warned that the war against the Taliban cannot be won. Brigadier Mark Carleton-Smith said the British public should not expect a “decisive military victory” but should be prepared for a possible deal with the Taliban.

His assessment followed the leaking of a memo from a French diplomat who claimed that Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, the British ambassador in Kabul, had told him the current strategy was “doomed to fail”.

Carleton-Smith, commander of 16 Air Assault Brigade, which has just completed its second tour of Afghanistan, said it was necessary to “lower our expectations”. He said: “We’re not going to win this war. It’s about reducing it to a manageable level of insurgency that’s not a strategic threat and can be managed by the Afghan army.”

BRITISH AMBASSADOR TO U.S. PEGS OBAMA AS "DECIDEDLY LIBERAL" AND INEXPERIENCED

Read between the lines...Basically, what Sir Nigel is saying is that Obama is weak, indecisive, and inexperienced...So, he's great for Britain:

Barack Obama is a "decidedly liberal" senator "who was finding his feet, and then got diverted by his presidential ambitions", according to a frank verdict delivered to Gordon Brown by the British ambassador to the United States.

Sir Nigel Sheinwald, ambassador in Washington since last year, delivered his unvarnished assessment of the White House front runner in a seven-page letter to the Prime Minister, obtained by The Daily Telegraph, just before the Democratic nominee's visit to Downing Street just over two months ago.

The candid letter, marked as containing "sensitive judgements" and requesting officials to "protect the contents carefully" gives a remarkable insight into how the Foreign Office views the political phenomenon who stunned Mr Brown's inner circle by defeating their favourite, Hillary Clinton, in the Democratic primaries.

Although the picture Sir Nigel paints is a highly complimentary one - Mr Obama's speeches are "elegant" and "mesmerising", he is "highly intelligent" and has "star quality" - he also judges that his "policies are still evolving" and that if elected he will "have less of a track record than any recent president".

The letter's contents suggest that Mr Brown could initially find it difficult to deal with a President Obama because he remains a largely unknown quantity who "resists pigeon-holing" and the leak is likely to complicate relations.

Last month, the prime minister was forced to backtrack after an article written in his name broke with convention by showering praise on the Democratic candidate at the expense of his Republican rival, Senator John McCain of Arizona.

Mr Obama "can seem to sit on the fence, assiduously balancing pros and cons", Sir Nigel wrote, and "does betray a highly educated and upper middle class mindset". Charges of elitism "are not entirely unfair" and he is "maybe aloof, insensitive" at times.

Curiously, there is no mention of his wife Michelle - a central figure in his rise and his closest adviser - and little examination of his time in Chicago, where he had radical associations, or his background in Hawaii, essential to understanding why "Obama is cool", as the letter puts it.

Sir Nigel detects a potential clash between Downing Street and an Obama administration over Iran.

"If Obama wins, we will need to consider with him the articulation between (a) his desire for 'unconditional' dialogue with Iran and (b) our and the [United Nations Security Council]'s requirement of prior suspension of enrichment before the nuclear negotiations proper can begin."

Sir Nigel concludes that searching for a deal between Israel and the Palestinians is "unlikely to be a top priority for Obama" and he expresses concern about his protectionist trade policy, while noting that he has "repositioned himself somewhat towards free trade".

The clip, posted by someone with the user name fittysmiffy, takes place in a country road lined with luxury houses.

The 55-second video - said to have been taken in High Wycombe, Bucks - was spotted after YouTube vowed to ban videos featuring weapons.

The Google-owned site introduced the ban for the UK only amid widespread unease about gang violence on Britain's streets.

It said any video clearly "showing weapons with the aim of intimidation" will be taken down, and Home Secretary Jacqui Smith hailed the move as a "real step forward".

However, YouTube has pointed out that the ban is not retrospective, and videos like this one posted prior to the change will only be removed if reported now.

The threat of global warming is so great that campaigners were justified in causing more than £35,000 worth of damage to a coal-fired power station, a jury decided yesterday. In a verdict that will have shocked ministers and energy companies the jury at Maidstone Crown Court cleared six Greenpeace activists of criminal damage.

Jurors accepted defence arguments that the six had a "lawful excuse" to damage property at Kingsnorth power station in Kent to prevent even greater damage caused by climate change. The defence of "lawful excuse" under the Criminal Damage Act 1971 allows damage to be caused to property to prevent even greater damage – such as breaking down the door of a burning house to tackle a fire.

The not-guilty verdict, delivered after two days and greeted with cheers in the courtroom, raises the stakes for the most pressing issue on Britain's green agenda and could encourage further direct action.

The only thing we know about his past is that he spent the last 20 years worshiping under a racist pastor, was friends with an angry wigger, had his campaign jump started by domestic terrorists, and has a wife who is only proud of her country when her husband is promoted politically. Sure Britain, follow America's example and elect a leader of such questionable associations and with zero accomplishments. Do it. It will give America someone to hang with in the soup line.

BRITISH CARVING OUT MUSLIM NO-GO AREAS

They're dead...and they don't even know it.

Appallingly, the quislings running Britain are officially assisting Muslim colonists in carving out no-go areas from which Christians must stay away. The Telegraph reports on a demented new Home Office scheme:

The plan includes a suggestion that local councils should map their areas religion, surveying and recording the faiths and denominations of local residents.

New guidelines for councils say: "A deeper understanding of local communities should be developed to help inform and focus the programme of action — this may include mapping denominational backgrounds and demographic and socio-economic factors."

In light of this, it's not so surprising that authorities recently threatened Christian evangelists with arrest and with getting "beaten up" if they don't stay out of a Muslim no-go area in Birmingham.

The new plan also calls for dealing with Islamic radicals by offering them therapy and counseling, and hoping they don't blow up any buses or subways, instead of by arresting and deporting them.

Britain may as well just get it over with and put the Muslims in charge, instead of their dhimmified flunkies.

CHURCH OF ENGLAND: UK WILL BE A MUSLIM NATION IN 2038

The UK will be a Muslim nation and America will be a Mexican nation. Do you think the two nations will still get along?

If recent reports of trends in religious observance prove to be correct, then in some 30 years the mosque will be able to claim that, religiously speaking, the UK is an Islamic nation, and therefore needs a share in any religious establishment to reflect this. The progress of conservative Islam in the UK has been amazing, and it has come at a time of prolonged decline in church attendance that seems likely to continue.

At all levels of national life Islam has gained state funding, protection from any criticism, and the insertion of advisors and experts in government departs national and local. A Muslim Home Office adviser, for example, was responsible for Baroness Scotland’s aborting of the legislation against honour killings, arguing that informal methods would be better. In the police we hear of girls under police protection having the addresses of their safe houses disclosed to their parents by Muslim officers who think they are doing their religious duty.

The point is that Islam is being institutionalised, incarnated, into national structures amazingly fast, at the same time as demography is showing very high birthrates. Charles Taylor’s new and classic work on the Secular Age charts the rise of the secular mindset and what he calls the ‘excarnation’ of Christianity as it is levered out of state policy and structures. Christianity is now regarded as bad news, the liberal elite’s attack developed in the 1960s took root in the educationalist empire, and to some extent even in areas of the church.

I can find no quarrel with the above passages. I guess that bothers me.

BRITS BUILDING NEW AIRCRAFT CARRIERS

Dogs of war? Or just some pasty white people building big boats?

The British government has officially given the go-ahead to a 3.9 billion pound ($7.6 billion) program to build two aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy. The first of the warships is planned to be in service in 2014.

Confirmation for the program to proceed will trigger the creation of a joint venture pulling together the surface warship yards of BAE Systems and the VT Group. The two companies agreed to merge the two BAE yards on the Clyde in Scotland with VT’s Portsmouth facility in southern England in mid-2007, but completion of the deal was contingent on the government here confirming that the CVF carrier program would enter the production phase.

The joint venture will be Britain’s only major surface warship builder.

BRITS ARE PIPING MAD AT OUTSOURCING OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT

It appears a good number of informed Brits are pretty angry at outsourcing within their defense industry. I feel ya my transatlantic brothers in arms. Well, maybe not brothers in arms, they're outsourced, but you know what I mean.

Regular visitors to this site will remember that yesterday we brought you news of the parlous state of the Royal Navy – now little more than a coastal defence force. We also described how even ammunition and other munitions are now being sourced from overseas, following the closure of British Ordnance factories by a succession of criminally irresponsible Tory and Labour “governments”

Today we learn that even our armoured vehicles are to be supplied from foreign factories, despite the lessons of history and the fact that British manufacturers have a long and proven record of excellence in the production of British built fighting machines!

It is as though Labour and the Tories have a secret agenda to render Britain wholly dependent on foreigners for our defence.- folly (or is it treason?) unprecedented in British history.

Iran's judiciary said on Monday it would file international lawsuits against the United States and Britain, accusing them of providing financial support to those behind a blast in a mosque that killed 14 people.

Iran's intelligence minister last week said Iran had arrested five or six members of a terrorist group with links to Britain and the United States who he said were involved in the explosion that also wounded 200 in the southern city of Shiraz.

Iranian officials had previously said the April 12 blast, during an evening prayer sermon by a prominent local cleric, was caused by explosives left over from an exhibition commemorating the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war.

It would appear that Iran is trying to prepare their citizens for war.

Iran has arrested members of a terrorist group with links to Britain and the United States who were behind a blast at a mosque last month that killed 14 and wounded 200 in the southern city of Shiraz, a news agency said.

Iranian officials had previously said the April 12 blast, in the Shohada mosque during an evening prayer sermon by a prominent local cleric, was caused by explosives left over from an exhibition commemorating the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war.

"The blast ... was caused by a bombing by a terrorist group with links to Western countries, especially Britain and America," ISNA news agency quoted Intelligence Minister Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei as saying late on Wednesday.

Five or six people were arrested, including the main culprit who was trying to flee the country, Mohseni-Ejei said. The group was found with weapons and "intended to carry out similar acts in other places," he said.

The minister's remarks echo allegations U.S. officials have made about Iranian support for militias in Iraq that have fought U.S. and U.S.-backed government forces there, accusations Tehran denies.

MUSLIM COUNCIL OF BRITAIN'S "AWARENESS CAMPAIGN" FAILS: LET US COUNT THE REASONS

Today, the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) expressed that it's "Awareness Campaign" had failed. This in the wake of the ouster of London Mayor Ken Livingstone in favor of Boris Johnson.

UK’s largest Muslim organisation: The Muslim Council of Britain has expressed concern over the success of far right candidate of the British National Party in the Thursday’s election of London Assembly and thought its awareness campaign did not yield desired result.

Well let me help these fellas and point out a few things that did not help their efforts:

MCB calls for all children to be taught in Taliban-style conditions.

MCB calls for limiting certain school activities during Ramadan, including science lessons dealing with sex, parents’ evenings, exams and immunisation programmes.

MCB demands that schools should ensure contact sports, including football and basketball, “are always in single-gender groups”.

MCB demands that school trips be made single-sex “to encourage greater participation from Muslim pupils”.

MCB requests for Arabic language classes for Muslim pupils, and calls that the Koran be recited in music classes.

And while the MCB insists that all British children should learn about Islam, it wants Muslims to have the right to withdraw their children from RE lessons dealing with Christianity and other faiths.

And what this guy says:


Or maybe it's the MCB's condoning of suicide bombings and its terrorists ties. Or the MCB's deliberate denial of muslim extremism in Britain. Or perhaps it was the MCB's characterization of Holocaust Memorial Day as "too exclusive".

And beyond the actions of MCB's actions, are the actions of British Muslims themselves. Muslims in Britain are segregating themselves from society at an increasing rate. British Muslims are demanding the right to censor British media. Young Muslims in the UK are demanding sharia law. Muslims in the UK are justifying terrorism and demanding police protection in the same breath. Muslims in the UK have demanded the execution of the Pope, their own personal open showers, and have stood in the streets of London demanding the nuclear destruction of Denmark.

Of course, the reasons for the MCB's "Awareness Campaign" failing are virtually endless. Frankly, I just got tired of typing. Feel free to submit your own reasons in the comments.

BRITISH MUSLIMS PLANNED ON TAKING THEIR FAMILIES ON A SUICIDE VACATION

More details are surfacing from the 2006 Islamic terror plot to blow up jetliners over the Atlantic Ocean. British Muslims on trial for their involvement in an airliner terror plot spoke of taking their families on suicide missions

In response to several accusations made by the questioners that Al-Qaeda engages in killing innocent Muslims, Al-Zawahiri offers an outright denial: "We do not kill innocents - not in Baghdad, nor in Morocco, nor in Algeria, nor anywhere else. If an innocent person was killed during the mujahideen's operations, then it was either an unintentional error or a necessity, as in the case where [the enemy] uses [innocent people as] a [human] shield... We fight those who kill innocents."

With respect to the December 11, 2007 Al-Qaeda attack against government and UN facilities in Algeria, which claimed the lives of dozens of bystanders, Al-Zawahiri says: "Those who were killed in the December 11 attacks in Algeria were not innocent people. According to the communiqué from Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, those [killed] were... the infidel Crusaders and government troops who protected them. Our brothers in the Islamic Maghreb are more reliable, just, and innocent than the lying sons of France [i.e., the government] who sold Algeria to [the French] and the Americans."

"The Al-Qassam [Brigades] Must Advise Their Leadership and Demand that it Return to the Correct Path [of Jihad]"

In response to several inquiries regarding his harsh criticism of Hamas, Al-Zawahiri says: "I stepped up my criticism gradually... but when they signed the Mecca Agreement there was no escape from open criticism... They did not heed their brothers' opinion and [instead] persisted without forethought in their path of entering the elections, adhering to a secular constitution, abandoning their Chechen brothers [by meeting with President Putin], and forfeiting four-fifths of Palestine in [the] Mecca [Agreement]... I criticized them and will continue to do so as long as they adhere to a secular constitution and... do not renounce the Mecca Agreement."

With respect to the military wing of Hamas, Al-Zawahiri says: "The mujahideen of the Al-Qassam [Brigades] must advise their leadership and demand that they return to the correct path [of jihad]... If they do not respond to [their advice], then let loyalty to Allah and His Messenger supersede [loyalty to] the organization. If the political leadership senses the sincerity with which the mujahideen of Al-Qassam reject the [notion of] ruling by anything other than the shari'a and... [by] the Mecca Agreement, those leaders will most likely change their position."
