Early in the day yesterday, Barack Obama declared that the economy was the worst since the great depression. Armed with his teleprompter, he stood before a modest crowd of working class people in Grand Junction, Colorado scaring the hell out of them as a means of making them putty in his hope hands.
Obama said that this latest development in the financial world is “as bad as anything we’ve ever seen…This is a serious, serious situation. We’ll have a lot of rebuilding to do. This turmoil is a major threat to our economy. There are too many folks in the U.S. and Washington D.C. who weren’t mending the store. This is the most serious financial condition since the Great Depression.”Just hours later, however, Obama had made his way to Beverly Hills where he partied with his Hollywood friends who gave him $9 million dollars that he could spend not on the American people who, he implies will be unemployed and in soup lines if things don't "change", but on himself.
Barack Obama partied with Hollywood celebrities Tuesday night and with the help of Oscar-winning singer and actress Barbra Streisand raised an eye-popping $9 million for his presidential campaign and the Democratic Party. This extreme hypocrisy, from any other politician, would be pounced upon by the mainstream media. But other than conservative blogs such as this one, you won't see anyone commenting on it. Wake up America! Obama wants to spend all your money on Barbara Streisand concert tickets!
The night was split into two glitzy events, a reception and dinner costing $28,500 each at the Greystone Mansion, followed by entertainment by Streisand at the nearby Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel. About 250 people were expected at the dinner and about 800 at the entertainment, which cost $2,500 a ticket.
It was a day of contrasts for Obama. Earlier in the day, the Democratic presidential candidate spoke about the public's deepening economic anxieties and portrayed Republican challenger John McCain as out of touch with the needs of hardworking people.
Then he flew to California for a night of hobnobbing with Hollywood notables.
