Obama's Big Caterpillar Lie

Obama announced on February 11, 2009 that Caterpillar Inc. would hire employees if the Stimulus Bill passed. He said that's what the CEO of Caterpillar told him. That was immediately proven to be a lie when Caterpillar's CEO said that he never told Obama any such thing. Here's a video documenting the lie.

Well, the lie just got bigger today as Caterpillar has announced it lay off 2,454 employees.

Caterpillar Inc. on Tuesday announced plans to lay off more than 2,400 employees at five plants in Illinois, Indiana and Georgia as the heavy equipment maker continues to cut costs amid the global economic downturn.

Caterpillar, the world's largest maker of mining and construction equipment, has seen its sales wither as the sluggish world economy and credit crisis weaken demand for its products, used to build everything from houses to highways. The company had expanded dramatically in recent years, helped by a building boom in developing countries.
How is that Caterpillar can be laying off if this Stimulus Bill was supposed to create so many infrastructure jobs? The answer is simple. The Stimulus Bill is a joke and the nation's largest manufacturer of infrastructure building equipment knows it.
