Taliban Stealing and Selling U.S. Military Equipment

UPDATE: At least one blogger is claming the military equipment is fake. I'm not so sure it's fake, but I would say that it's odd it would end up in streetside shops and not in the hands of the taliban. This stuff could just as well be Chinese knock-offs.

This video is suspect to say the least. I'm not saying it's fake, but CBS didn't show what they said they were showing. At best they were fooled and at worst they were disingenuous. It was a complete scam with regards to the American equipment footage. The only thing she showed was a knee pad, hydration system and an old canteen. The rest was just equipment you find find anywhere.

Seriously, that canteen is circa 1988. And the rest of that stuff is not U.S. equipment, but rather, cheap Chinese stuff with us flags or ensignia on it. Wouldn't you like to see the night vision goggles that are supposedly for sale?
