A lawyer says an autopsy report suggests that an Italian artist was raped by more than one person before being killed in Turkey last year.
Mehmet Eke, the artist's lawyer, said Wednesday that only one suspect is on trial but she could have been raped by two or three people. The identity of other suspects is unclear.
Thirty-three-year-old Giuseppina Pasqualino di Marineo, also known as Pippa Bacca, was last seen March 31, 2008, in the western city of Gebze while hitchhiking to Israel wearing a wedding dress to plead for peace. Her naked body was found in a forest nearby.
The sole suspect Murat Karatas faces life in prison on charges of raping and killing the artist. The next hearing is Thursday.
