I stumbled upon this Wikipedia entry entitled "List of Guantanamo Bay detainees". As you can see, it appears to be very detailed, complete with a section for "notes". As you can also see, missing from those "notes", are few mentions of why some of these people are at Gitmo in the first place. Further, crimes committed by Gitmo detainees after release are also ignored for teh most part. For example, right near the top of the list is Abdallah, Muhamed Hussein. This man, according to unclassified U.S. government documents, is at Gitmo because he provided information to both Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Ironically, a much more complete Wikipedia entry concerning Hussien can be found here, complete with details concerning Hussein's involvement with Al Qaeda.
Reviewing the "list", it doesn't take long to see that the people who are documenting this "list" are motivated by a slanted agenda designed to make these men appear to be either innocent, sympathetic, or both. Either that, or they're just not very thorough. I have my suspicions as to which.
I am asking for your help in updating the "notes" section of this Wikipedia entry. These "notes" should include, to the extent that a citing reference can be found, any information relating to the reasons for the particular individual's incarceration, statements evidencing a continued desire to serve as a terrorist, and any other significant information.
I make this call to arms with absolutely no experience with Wikipedia. I have no idea if it's even possible to update this list or whether any further input will be disallowed or censored. I simply find the lack of objectivity appalling.
I am asking you to "sponsor" a terrorist. Pick one from the list, research him, and see if there is anything you can add to this Wikipedia "list" of Gitmo detainees. It will be both a fun and rewarding experience. I can document your efforts at the newly established Big Feed message board. Please let me know which terrorist you have chosen to sponsor. Also, let me know if you run into any difficulty from Wikipedia in your efforts to update this list. Please, do not make things up. Be sure to cite your information as Wikipedia encourages. If you need help figuring out Wikipedia, let me know.

Fifteen Patients Die in San Francisco During Earth Hour

Fifteen patients on life support and in surgery died at San Francisco General Hospital when power was cut for "Earth hour" on Saturday.I'm pretty sure that was satire. But when San Francisco is involved, you really can never tell.
The hospital was pleased with their participation in the worldwide celebration of the planet. "We asked all the patients and their families if they were all right with us cutting the power. To a person, they all said as stewards of this planet it was their duty to observe Earth Hour. They knew the risks and were willing to take it," said hospital administrator Lawrence Cho.
Cho said that it was a net gain for planet Earth, despite the deaths. "The dead patients will no longer use any energy, and actually will be turned into energy in our patient incinerator," said hospital administrator Lawrence Cho.
As power was cut in the critical care ward some patients screamed in pain, others died calmly in their sleep. Cho said that most of the medical equipment has battery-powered back up systems, but those were disabled, because hospital officials felt that violated the spirit of Earth Hour.
Heart surgeon Dr. Gregory Morris was doing an open-heart procedure when the lights went out. "I wasn't sure what I was cutting into. Turns out it wasn't his heart, but his bowels. Unfortunately, Mr. Simms didn't make it."
Marla Tompkins, surviving sister of cancer patient Warren Tompkins, said, "Warren struggled for breath as his ventilator was powered down. I thought he might make it, but with three minutes left before power was to be turned back on, he expired. It was tragic, but kept me on the edge of the seat the whole time."
Cho hopes other hospitals learn from the example of San Francisco General and participate in next year's Earth Hour.

An enormous electronic espionage programme run from servers in China has been used to spy on computers in more than 100 countries, according to two reports published at the weekend.Damn Chinese!
The reports, published by the universities of Cambridge and Toronto, detail a "murky realm" where cyber spooks infiltrate email, take over humble desktop computers and use them to spy on organisations, individuals and governments.
The reports name the system GhostNet, and claim that it has been used to attack governments in south and south-east Asia as well as the offices of the Dalai Lama. In two years, the reports suggest, the operation infiltrated 1,295 computers in 103 countries.
While one of the reports remains mute on the identity of the perpetrators, the other has no such qualms, warning that the Chinese government ran a series of cyber attacks on Tibetan exile groups. The Chinese foreign ministry could not be reached for comment.
"What Chinese spooks did in 2008, Russian crooks will do in 2010 and even low-budget criminals from less developed countries will follow in due course," conclude the Cambridge authors of The Snooping Dragon: Social Malware Surveillance of the Tibetan Movement.
The attacks were simple and direct. Infected emails bearing attachments or links to websites were sent to organisations including the private office of the Dalai Lama. Once opened, the virus allowed hackers to operate the host computer, including moving files and sending and receiving data. Their potential control was such that they could turn on an infected computer's camera and microphone, creating a surveillance bug.

Man Attacks Boss After Losing His Job
This guy completely loses it after he finds he is laid off. Police say they responded to reports of two fights at a southwest Michigan auto dealership on the day employees were told the business was closing amid the slumping economy. WWMT-TV captured one of the fights on video Friday that shows a scuffle, with one man knocking another to the ground outside Wayland Chevrolet. This has to the toughest guy in a pink ball cap I've ever seen.

Al Gore Left the Lights on During Earth Hour
He does not practice what he preaches. Tennessee Center For Policy Research Drew Johnson takes a Saturday drive by Al Gore’s house during the time most environmentalists went dark:
I pulled up to Al’s house, located in the posh Belle Meade section of Nashville, at 8:48pm – right in the middle of Earth Hour. I found that the main spotlights that usually illuminate his 9,000 square foot mansion were dark, but several of the lights inside the house were on.Awesome work!
In fact, most of the windows were lit by the familiar blue-ish hue indicating that floor lamps and ceiling fixtures were off, but TV screens and computer monitors were hard at work. (In other words, his house looked the way most houses look about 1:45am when their inhabitants are distractedly watching “Cheaters” or “Chelsea Lately” reruns.)
The kicker, though, were the dozen or so floodlights grandly highlighting several trees and illuminating the driveway entrance of Gore’s mansion.
I [kid] you not, my friends, the savior of the environment couldn’t be bothered to turn off the gaudy lights that show off his goofy trees.

Report: Biden's Daughter Caught on Tape Snorting Cocaine
I would think that not even Joe Biden's daughter would be this stupid. So, we should be skeptical of this story. From New York Post:
A "friend" of Vice President Joseph Biden's daughter, Ashley, is attempting to hawk a videotape that he claims shows her snorting cocaine at a house party this month in Delaware.
The anonymous male acquaintance of Ashley took the video, said Thomas Dunlap, a lawyer representing the seller.
Dunlap and a man claiming to be a lawyer showed The Post about 90 seconds of a 43-minute tape, saying it was legally obtained and that Ashley was aware she was being filmed. The Post refused to pay for the video.
The video, which the shooter initially hoped to sell for $2 million before scaling back his price to $400,000, shows a 20-something woman with light skin and long brown hair taking a red straw from her mouth, bending over a desk, inserting the straw into her nostril and snorting lines of white powder.
She then stands up and begins talking with other people in the room. A young man looks on from behind her, facing the camera. The lawyers said he was Ashley's boyfriend of a few years.
The camera follows the woman from a few feet away, focusing on her as she moves around the room. It appears not to be concealed. At one point she shouts, "Shut the f- - - up!"
The woman appears to resemble Ashley Biden, 27, a social worker for a Delaware child-welfare agency and a visible presence during her father's campaign for the White House.

School for Short Bus Kids Renamed "Barack Obama Academy"
At least in this instance, it's a school for the right type of student.
The Oakland Unified School District's Board of Education passed a resolution at its meeting Wednesday night to become one of the nation's first districts to name a school after the country's new president.
Students and administrators from Alternative Learning Community came to the meeting to speak in favor of changing the school's name to Barack Obama Academy, according to district spokesman Troy Flint, who said the board passed the resolution unanimously.
The academy is the nation's first middle school named after Obama. An elementary school in Hempstead, N.Y., has also been named after the president.
The Oakland school, located at 9736 Lawlor St., was founded in 2007 to help students who have struggled in mainstream educational environments.

ShamWow Guy Busted for Using His Pimp Hand

Meet Vince Shlomi. He's probably better known to you as the ShamWow Guy, the ubiquitous television pitchman who has been phenomenally successful peddling absorbent towels and food choppers. Shlomi, 44, was arrested last month on a felony battery charge following a violent confrontation with a prostitute in his South Beach hotel room. According to an arrest affidavit, Shlomi met Sasha Harris, 26, at a Miami Beach nightclub on February 7 and subsequently retired with her to his $750 room at the lavish Setai hotel. Shlomi told cops he paid Harris about $1000 in cash after she "propositioned him for straight sex." Shlomi said that when he kissed Harris, she suddenly "bit his tongue and would not let go." Shlomi then punched Harris several times until she released his tongue. The affidavit, a copy of which you'll find here, notes that during the 4 AM fight Harris sustained facial fractures and lacerations all over her face (she is pictured here in mug shots snapped following busts in 2008 and 2005). After freeing his tongue, a bleeding Shlomi ran to the Setai lobby, where security summoned cops. Harris refused to cooperate with officers, who recovered $930 from her purse. "Both parties had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from their persons," police reported. In a brief telephone interview, Harris declined to answer TSG questions about her run-in with Shlomi, though she did say she is considering a lawsuit against the pitchman. Asked if she worked as a hooker, Harris declined comment. As seen in the below mug shot, Shlomi was also injured during the fracas and, court records show, was treated at Mount Sinai Medical Center. While Shlomi and Harris were both arrested for felony aggravated battery, prosecutors this month declined to file formal charges against the combatants. Police records list Shlomi's occupation as "Marketing," but make no mention of his affiliation with the ShamWow or the Slap Chop,
The Spain Experiment: Obama's "Green Jobs" are a Path to Failure
Obama has styled his "green jobs" plan after a similar experiment in Spain. It is destined for failure as it costs more jobs than it creates. From NRO:

"green jobs," the U.S. should expect to directly kill by the same programs at least 6.6 million (or as many as 11 million) jobs elsewhere in the economy.
# That is because green jobs schemes in Spain killed 2.2 jobs per job created, or about 9 existing jobs — I'll call them "real" jobs — lost for every 4 that are created. Abortion Profiteeer Dies in Plane Crash Next to "Tomb of the Unborn"

Some of you may have seen the major news story of the private plane that crashed into a Montana cemetery, killing 7 children and 7 adults.
But what the news sources fail to mention is that the Catholic Holy Cross Cemetery owned by Resurrection Cemetery Association in Butte - contains a memorial for local residents to pray the rosary, at the 'Tomb of the Unborn'. This memorial, located a short distance west of the church, was erected as a dedication to all babies who have died because of abortion.
What else is the mainstream news not telling you? The family who died in the crash near the location of the abortion victim's memorial, is the family of Irving 'Bud' Feldkamp, owner of the largest for-profit abortion chain in the nation.
Suicide Bomber Kills Himself and 6 Friends

A would-be suicide bomber accidentally blew himself up on Thursday, killing six other militants as he was bidding them farewell to leave for his intended target, the Interior Ministry said.We found a picture of the would-be terrorist as he was preparing to leave to join his 72 virgins.
"The terrorist was on his way to his destination and saying good-bye to his associates and then his suicide vest exploded," a statement from the ministry said.
California Considering Banning Black Cars
Gonna be a whole lot of pissed off funeral directors.
The California legislature is considering regulating the color of cars and reflectivity of paint to reduce the energy requirements to cool them.As far as I'm concerned, this is all about 25 years too late.
The problem isn’t the color per se, but the reflectivity of the paint overall. And dark colors just don’t reflect well, so they are likely out. “Jet black remains an issue,” says the report.

What Hope and Change Begets: Poet Calls for "No Theft Day"
I'm in. But only if we can follow it up with a no fart day. You know, to assist in the battle against global warming. From Andrei Codrescu NPR (where else?):
Let's all of us citizens take a vow to not steal for one whole day. We already have a Smoke-Free Day, a Secretary's Day, a Mother's Day, a Grandmother's Day and Valentine's Day. Let's have one more holiday: a Don't Steal Anything Day. The benefits will be immediate: There will be bumper stickers that read, "I didn't Steal Anything Today." The Hallmark cards will have their usual holiday bumper crop and, best of all, the huge flow of unfilched cash will send the economy soaring.
This holiday will only work if it is observed by big thieves, not just small fry. Cookers of books, Ponzi schemers, scrupleless traders, and accountants addicted to drugs and gambling will need to observe the day as much as petty cashiers, banking clerks, parking-meter attendants, coin-laundry collectors, slot-machine operators and traffic court judges. Not everyone will observe — just like not everyone stops smoking on Smoke-Free Day — but if enough people try, the results will be palpable.
Theft-Free Day will get better every year until we can eventually expand it to a Theft-Free Week. Imagine! A whole week during which no one steals anything. Hard to imagine, I know, but everybody used to smoke, too.

The Kenyan aunt of U.S. President Barack Obama has returned to her Boston apartment as she awaits a deportation hearing, neighbors say.
Zeituni Onyango, believed to be in her late 50s, had fled Boston to stay with relatives in Cleveland after she ignited a controversy during last year's presidential campaign because she was found to be living the United States illegally. But neighbors told Tuesday's Boston Globe Onyango returned to her apartment in a public housing complex a few weeks ago.
Onyango faces an April 1 deportation hearing that will be closed to the public. It will be her third attempt to fight her removal from the United States, where she has living illegally since she was ordered deported in 2004, the Globe said.

Geithner Lies Through His Tax Cheating Teeth
Take a look at this video, from March 24, where Michelle Bachman grills Geithner on the Constitutional authority for some of the stimulus actions. Pay attention at the 2:00 mark where she asks Geithner if he would categorically reject Chinese proposal to dump the dollar in favor of an international currency. Geithner says he would indeed categorically reject such a proposal.
Well, apparently, he was read the riot act by someone. Because the very next day he stated he was open to the idea proposed by China. From Politico:
Geithner, at the Council on Foreign Relations, said the U.S. is "open" to a headline-grabbing proposal by the governor of the China's central bank, which was widely reported as being a call for a new global currency to replace the dollar, but which Geithner described as more modest and "evolutionary."Did you catch that? First he says he hasn't read the proposal, then he offers his interpretation of the proposal. How the hell is that possible? How do you interpret what you have not read? Geithner is a dangerous, dishonest liar!
"I haven’t read the governor’s proposal. He’s a very thoughtful, very careful distinguished central banker. I generally find him sensible on every issue," Geithner said, saying that however his interpretation of the proposal was to increase the use of International Monetary Fund's special drawing rights -- shares in the body held by its members -- not creating a new currency in the literal sense.

Mellencamp Falls Off His Rocker - Blames Reagan for Lousy Music
Simmer down Johnny Cougar. Apparently you've never heard of the Bay City Rollers. That crap was on Carter's watch. This is all very rich coming from a man who didn't have the stones to use his own name to launch his career. Instead he relied on the corporate commercial tactic of a fake name. That's why the general public doesn't really care. It's not that the people don't still love music; of course they do. It's just the way it is presented to them that ignores their humanity.
Mellencamp's statements indicate a remarkable stupidity. Just remarkable.
House Passes Obama Youth Bill

The House passed a bill yesterday which includes disturbing language indicating young people will be forced to undertake mandatory national service programs as fears about President Barack Obama’s promised “civilian national security force” intensify.Are you prepared to surrender your children to this?
The Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, known as the GIVE Act, was passed yesterday by a 321-105 margin and now goes to the Senate.
Under section 6104 of the bill, entitled “Duties,” in subsection B6, the legislation states that a commission will be set up to investigate, “Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.”
Section 120 of the bill also discusses the “Youth Engagement Zone Program” and states that “service learning” will be “a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.”
“The legislation, slated to cost $6 billion over five years, would create 175,000 “new service opportunities” under AmeriCorps, bringing the number of participants in the national volunteer program to 250,000. It would also create additional “corps” to expand the reach of volunteerism into new sectors, including a Clean Energy Corps, Education Corps, Healthy Futures Corps and Veterans Service Corps, and it expands the National Civilian Community Corps to focus on additional areas like disaster relief and energy conservation,”

Obama Car About to be Repossessed
You just can't make this stuff up. Yeah, you freak. How's that hope and change working for ya?
Jennifer Stone-Anderson says her 2004 Saturn Ion became a work of art this fall when she covered it with elaborate paintings supporting Barack Obama.Of course, the lender only gets it back after the deadbeat has ruined it.
But Chrysler, which financed her car purchase, maintains that it's just a car. And that Stone-Anderson has been missing payments. And that her work of "art" is about to be repossessed.
Stone-Anderson's unemployment was the root of the art, but her lack of work may also bring the loss of it. In May, she gained free time when she was laid off from Rainbow Art and Design in Tampa, Fla., so she started painting her car with leftover acrylics.
Since the layoff, she has been working as a freelance artist, but hasn't been able to find enough work to keep all the bills paid.
Stone-Anderson missed her car payments in December, January and February and has started receiving calls from Chrysler. She has ignored them.
She said that Chrysler has the paperwork to repossess the car, and it's really just a matter of the company finding it at this point. The car is hard to miss, but Stone-Anderson said she's not worried about the company taking it.
"Barack says he's an eternal optimist," she said. "We're like minds."

British "Green Movement" Takes a Decidedly Anti-Human Turn

JONATHON PORRITT, one of Gordon Brown’s leading green advisers, is to warn that Britain must drastically reduce its population if it is to build a sustainable society.No doubt some opportunistic politician will seize upon this as a means to create "green" jobs. After all, someone has to dig those ditches.
Porritt’s call will come at this week’s annual conference of the Optimum Population Trust (OPT), of which he is patron.
The trust will release research suggesting UK population must be cut to 30m if the country wants to feed itself sustainably.
Porritt said: “Population growth, plus economic growth, is putting the world under terrible pressure.
“Each person in Britain has far more impact on the environment than those in developing countries so cutting our population is one way to reduce that impact.”
Population growth is one of the most politically sensitive environmental problems. The issues it raises, including religion, culture and immigration policy, have proved too toxic for most green groups.
However, Porritt is winning scientific backing. Professor Chris Rapley, director of the Science Museum, will use the OPT conference, to be held at the Royal Statistical Society, to warn that population growth could help derail attempts to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
Rapley, who formerly ran the British Antarctic Survey, said humanity was emitting the equivalent of 50 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
“We have to cut this by 80%, and population growth is going to make that much harder,” he said.

Hugo Chavez Calls Obama an "Ignoramus"
You know things are going bad for Barry when his own heroes call him an "ignoramus". So when is the world going to start loving us again. By the way, I tend to agree with Uncle Hugo. I just don't think he has any room to talk.
Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said on Sunday his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama was at best an "ignoramus" for saying the socialist leader exported terrorism and obstructed progress in Latin America.My prediction is that Obama will make a video like the one he sent to Iran to smooth things over. Obama just can't stand it when people hate him.
"He goes and accuses me of exporting terrorism: the least I can say is that he's a poor ignoramus; he should read and study a little to understand reality," said Chavez, who heads a group of left-wing Latin American leaders opposed to the U.S. influence in the region.
Chavez said Obama's comments had made him change his mind about sending a new ambassador to Washington, after he withdrew the previous envoy in a dispute last year with the Bush administration in which he also expelled the U.S. ambassador to Venezuela.
"When I saw Obama saying what he said, I put the decision back in the drawer; let's wait and see," Chavez said on his weekly television show, adding he had wanted to send a new ambassador to improve relations with the United States after the departure of George W. Bush as president.
In a January interview with Spanish-language U.S. network Univision, Obama said Chavez had hindered progress in Latin America, accusing him of exporting terrorist activities and supporting Colombian guerrillas.
"My, what ignorance; the real obstacle to development in Latin America has been the empire that you today preside over," said Chavez, who is a fierce critic of U.S. foreign policy.

Report: Spicoli Withdraws from Movie Because of Scene Critical of Iranian Culture
In 2005, Sean Penn traveled to Iran. He wrote little dispatches designed to prove to all how progressive and open-minded he was. He was hoping for American people to come to Iran and get familiar with the Iranian culture. According to this report, however, Penn doesn't want Americans to know everything about that culture.
Sources say Penn, who traveled to Iran in 2005 and sent wordy dispatches to the San Francisco Chronicle, demanded to be removed from "Crossing Over" because he objected to an "honor killing" scene of an Iranian woman slain by her brother.
The Weinstein Company flick on the immigration issue, budgeted at $20 million, is a multi-plotted drama, like "Traffic" and "Crash," starring Harrison Ford and Ashley Judd. Although Penn shot scenes playing an enforcement agent, sources told Page Six he insisted he be cut from the movie, which has grossed a paltry $292,254 since its release three weeks ago. The Post's Lou Lumenick panned its stereotypical characters who "spout tin-eared dialogue."
A rep for Weinstein, who tried to salvage the remains of the picture in the editing room, declined to comment as to why Penn was cut from it.
