Rolling Stones vs. The Beatles - The Stones Drive a Stake Through the Heart of the Beatles

For those in the know, there was never a real debate as to who was the better band. The debate was settled very early on. But just like with Obama, the media extolled the virtues of one, while demonizing the other.

Look at these clips from 1964 where The Beatles and The Rolling Stones played at the same event. Back to back. You tell me which is rock n' roll. And no, woooo woooos and cheesy head bobbing ain't rock n' roll.

First, The Beatles

And now, The Stones stick their knife right down The Beatles throats...and it hurts.

I'll always give the Beatles credit for the writing end of things and their innovative studio work but my God, The Stones are just so many levels above them in live playing and energy and the raw looseness that propelled rock and roll into a much better direction that the Beatles would have brought it. Rock and roll probably needed both of them but I just prefer that Rolling Stones feeling and vibe. Man, I wish Brian had lived. I'd love to see what he would have done with the next 40 years of his life even if he had not continued with the Stones.

"Apples and oranges"?

No. It's pop and rock n' roll.
