Reasons Ali Took Up Guitar #2

Among the many records we’d secretly import to my dusty little home town inside Lamb bladders, was the album documenting the Woodstock Festival. On this album there were many hippy bands and assorted whack- jobs like Joan Baez and Country Joe and the Fish. But in between could be found some real talent. One such band was Ten Years After. The song was the epic foot stomper called “I’m Going Home”. This song made me long for the day that I’d be released from Children’s Prison. I was in Children’s Prison for most of my early 20’s. I lucked out that I was there in the first place so I shouldn’t complain. I was arrested for possession of Pop Rocks at my friend Khookhin Al- Dente’s house. I was obviously a full grown adult but when the authorities stripped me of my pants they started laughing and decreed me an 8 year old with a pituitary problem. Joke was on them I guess. Children’s Prison was easy! We only had to dig mass graves. The adults had to test mustard gas and were forced to listen to Barbra Streisand in their cells. But still in all, I missed home. “I’m Going Home” helped pass the time. I played air guitar to this song in my head countless times, anxiously awaiting the day I could get back to my record player and put it on. Praise be to God I did.

Enjoy!

It was you! The tall one the trustees made fun of ... and the rest of us were scared of.
